My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Cody is a five-year-old, 55-pound lab mix who was surrendered to the shelter by his owner because they could no longer care for him. We have him now, and he’s in boarding. He does fine with the other dogs in daycare, but you can tell he would rather be with people. He seems housetrained too, so we think he was a companion dog, and now we wonder what happened. If you would like to foster or adopt Cody, please go to www.atlantalabrescue.com and apply.

FROM THE FOSTER:  Cody is house trained and crate trained, though he'd probably be fine out of the crate. He is the perfect mix of energy and chill! He will do best with a fenced yard and loves to chase the ball. He lives for walks and his leash manners are a work in progress. He also loves to cuddle! He is food motivated and takes treats so gently. He figured out the dog door within 15 minutes, but will also whine to go out when the door is closed. He is uninterested in the cats. The funniest thing about Cody is his Hemingway feet! He has big dewclaws on his back feet that make him look polydactyl.

More about this rescue

Atlanta Lab Rescue is an all volunteer, non-profit (501-c3) organization, whose volunteers have years of rescue experience. Our mission is to identify and rescue Labrador Retrievers and large breed mixes from overwhelmed shelters and abusive situations and place them in secure, loving homes. We average 30-40 dogs in the program at any given time and in our first 10 years, we have rescued over 3500 dogs.

Prior to an Atlanta Lab Rescue dog being adopted, each dog undergoes an extensive examination by our veterinarians, including a comprehensive blood profile, is updated on all vaccinations, spayed or neutered and micro chipped. Health issues that require additional treatment such as heartworms, surgery, etc, are addressed prior to adoption. In addition, each adoption includes free access to our Atlanta Lab Rescue trainer. At Atlanta Lab Rescue we firmly believe that a healthy, well trained dog is the key to the successful integration of a rescued dog and ensures a wonderful, loving companion for years to come.
