Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Momo You don`t have to tell me I`m the most handsome boy cat you`ve ever seen! I already know it! I`m the Chris Hemsworth of HSHC! As of today, 10-14-24, I have been at the HSHC for 90 days. I lived with my former owner for one year before he moved away. I am only 1-year-old, so you know I have a lot of living to do. However, my previous family only gave me a fraction of the socializing education all kittens need. The term `scaredy cat` applies to me 100%. I show my fear by hissing and swatting. Coming to the shelter after losing my home has been very traumatic. The staff decided I would benefit from being in the Roaming Room with other cats since I`ve gotten along with cats in the past. I happily snoozed in a cubby when the interviewer lady (IL) slowly crawled over to meet me. I glare at new people when they try to socialize with me. I gave her a couple of hisses to let her know I was unavailable to chat. She would have been surprised to know I was quite friendly with those I`d chosen to bond with. It simply takes me a long time to trust and let down my guard. With `my people,` I`m pleased to allow them to pet me. I have never enjoyed kids, so my new family must all be over 16. I will need a space I can call my own, with everything I need to live comfortably. My new owner should be willing to give me loads of time to feel safe and comfortable. If you do this, you will have much more than a handsome fellow; you`ll have a lovebug. 10-14-24

With an open admission policy, a No-Kill philosophy, and more than 3,100 animals crossing our threshold each year, we have still maintained a 98% placement rate over the last 3 years.
This is an amazing feat for any organization…let alone one that takes in some of the most abused, injured and seriously ill animals imaginable.
