Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Mama Mia is a young dog with a gentle heart who just needs a little extra time and patience to shine. This sweet girl came to HSHC as a stray, and her journey to trust has been slow but steady. When she first arrived, Mama Mia was very fearful and felt the need to protect herself. But with patience, love, and a few tasty treats, she’s made amazing progress! Now, she’s warming up to new people and even seeking out pets from her favorite shelter friends.
Mama Mia is looking for a home that understands her need for continued training and structure. She’s still working on basic skills and would love adopters who can provide lots of mental and physical stimulation. Puzzle feeders, scent games, and learning new tricks will help keep this smart girl happy and engaged.
Mama Mia will do best in a calm home with kids 14+ and no cats. She’d love to meet any dog siblings here at the shelter first to make sure everyone’s a good match. Her ideal adopters will understand that she needs a slow approach with new people and a safe, quiet space to settle in. High-traffic areas like pet stores and cafes might be overwhelming for now, but with time, training, and love, Mama Mia has the potential to be a wonderful companion.
If you’re ready to help this special girl continue her journey, come meet Mama Mia! Give her patience, and she’ll give you loyalty and love in return.

With an open admission policy, a No-Kill philosophy, and more than 3,100 animals crossing our threshold each year, we have still maintained a 98% placement rate over the last 3 years.
This is an amazing feat for any organization…let alone one that takes in some of the most abused, injured and seriously ill animals imaginable.
