Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Hello, my name is Odie! My sister and I were living in a gravel yard in Detroit until C.H.A.I.N.E.D. INC discovered us and brought us here to FMAR to find our forever homes!
Everyone at FMAR had a feeling that I was some type of Hound. A DNA test confirmed that I am a hound, and some other breeds too! 48% Treeing Walker Coonhound 28% Boxer 10% American Staffordshire Terrier 4% Bulldog 4% American Bulldog Whew! What an interesting mix!
I am a very sweet boy who loves attention from people. I may be a little shy at first as I am still getting used to the outside world, but with time and patience I would make the perfect family companion. Even though I’m a pretty big boy, I am super gentle and would fit in perfectly with a home that has children. I have recently discovered what grass is and my favorite thing to do here is run around the grass yards with my ears flopping in the wind. I like to play and walk with other dogs, but I do not want to share my food with them, so I would need to be the only dog in the home.
I am patiently waiting for my forever home, could you be the one?
If you would like to meet me, please submit an application for me on our website https://www.friendsofmichigan.org/adoptable-dogs. I am neutered, up to date on all age appropriate vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and on monthly flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. My adoption fee is $250, which helps cover some of the cost of the medical care I have received.
**Each dog is different, so each adoption is different. Our adoption process might require multiple visits to the shelter before our dogs can go home. Or they may be ready on the first visit. It depends on the individual dog and the potential adopters. Once we receive your application, the Dog Staff will contact you to discuss meeting our dogs.

We are a nonprofit, no-kill animal shelter comprised mostly of volunteers. We take in cats and dogs from local shelters and the public who can no longer care for their pets. Each of the volunteers at FMAR has a tremendous amount of love for animals and simply wants to do what they can to ensure that as many animals as possible find a forever home. Until then, each animal has a home at FMAR indefinitely.
