Hi there! Let me tell you my story....My name is Buddy and when I came to FMAR as a stray, you could see my ribs because I was so skinny and my feet were so swollen that I couldn't walk. FMAR has taken wonderful care of me and I've gained some much needed weight and my feet have gotten so much better.
My bouncy spirit is through the roof!!! I get very excited to greet people and seek all the attention I can possibly get, but after a few minuets I settle in just fine. I am potty trained, but I will need frequent potty breaks when left out of the crate. I am very good in a crate, sometimes I might whine a little, but I eventually settle in. I have been overnighted in a crate, and I do fantastic as long as the crate is appropriate to my body size. Most of the time I keep myself entertained by playing with my toys. I am really great about keeping out of things I shouldn't get into when unsupervised. I enjoy walks, and I could make a great jogging partner, but even just running around a fenced in backyard would be wonderful for me. So far I only know sit, but I am super food motivated and love to impress so I am certain I can learn much more! I would be best suited in a home without cats or other dogs. I may be able to play with another dog eventually, but that will take some work and time to achieve.
If you would like to meet me, please submit an application for me on our website https://www.friendsofmichigan.org/adoptable-dogs. I am neutered, up to date on all age appropriate vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and on monthly flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. My adoption fee is $250, which helps cover the cost of the medical care I have received.
**Each dog is different, so each adoption is different. Our adoption process might require multiple visits to the shelter before our dogs can go home. Or they may be ready on the first visit. It really depends on the individual dog and the potential adopters. Once we receive your application, the Dog Staff will contact you to discuss meeting our dogs.

We are a nonprofit, no-kill animal shelter comprised mostly of volunteers. We take in cats and dogs from local shelters and the public who can no longer care for their pets. Each of the volunteers at FMAR has a tremendous amount of love for animals and simply wants to do what they can to ensure that as many animals as possible find a forever home. Until then, each animal has a home at FMAR indefinitely.
