My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! My name is Rusty and I am fun, energetic, and ready for action! If you're looking for an exercise buddy, I will be the best motivation you'll need. I might like living with another dog if we have a slow and proper introduction. I can sometimes be a little shy at first with some people but if you give me some time to warm up, I'll be your best buddy! I love playing with tennis balls in the yard! You should come meet me and I'll show you how much fun we can have together!

If you would like to meet me, please submit an application for me on our website https://www.friendsofmichigan.org/adoptable-dogs. I am neutered, up to date on all age appropriate vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and on monthly flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. My adoption fee is $250, which helps cover the cost of the medical care I have received.

**Each dog is different, so each adoption is different. Our adoption process might require multiple visits to the shelter before our dogs can go home. Or they may be ready on the first visit. It really depends on the individual dog and the potential adopters. Once we receive your application, the Dog Staff will contact you to discuss meeting our dogs.

More about this shelter

We are a nonprofit, no-kill animal shelter comprised mostly of volunteers. We take in cats and dogs from local shelters and the public who can no longer care for their pets. Each of the volunteers at FMAR has a tremendous amount of love for animals and simply wants to do what they can to ensure that as many animals as possible find a forever home. Until then, each animal has a home at FMAR indefinitely.
