Hi There! My name is Benny, and I am a super active and playful mix breed. I am very smart and food motivated, which means I can learn commands and tricks very quickly and would be perfect for sent work or agility training. I love to run and play fetch with tennis balls out in the yard, but I also enjoy cuddles with my handlers. I am a big fan of being brushed, which is great because I definitely need it! I am very good on walks and I mainly just want to sniff and explore my surroundings. I could walk forever if you let me! So I would be the perfect jogging or hiking buddy. Sometimes I lack confidence with people, so I need someone to give me some love and reassure me that everything is okay! I am looking for an experienced owner who will be able to handle my activity level, behavioral quirks, and implement a training plan for me. I take a moment to trust and bond with new people, but once I know you I will make the perfect companion. I bond very closely with my handlers here at FMAR!
Since I have a lot of energy, I'm looking for a home without cats or children under 12 years of age. I have had great success walking with other dogs here, so I might enjoy a dog brother or sister as long as we have a slow and proper introduction. If you would like to meet me, please submit an application for me on our website https://www.friendsofmichigan.org/adoptable-dogs. I am neutered, up to date on all age appropriate vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and on monthly flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. My adoption fee is $250, which helps cover the cost of the medical care I have received.
**Each dog is different, so each adoption is different. Our adoption process might require multiple visits to the shelter before our dogs can go home. Or they may be ready on the first visit. It really depends on the individual dog and the potential adopters. Once we receive your application, the Dog Staff will contact you to discuss meeting our dogs.

We are a nonprofit, no-kill animal shelter comprised mostly of volunteers. We take in cats and dogs from local shelters and the public who can no longer care for their pets. Each of the volunteers at FMAR has a tremendous amount of love for animals and simply wants to do what they can to ensure that as many animals as possible find a forever home. Until then, each animal has a home at FMAR indefinitely.
