My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Say “Hello” to Barbie!

Meet Barbie, our delightful little girl (whom we lovingly call Penny)! This active senior miniature poodle may be around 10 years old, but you'd never guess it by her spirited personality. Barbie joined our rescue as a former breeding mama and comes with a history of an old injury in her hind leg. But don’t let that fool you—she’s always on the move, following her humans and foster siblings everywhere!

Barbie navigates stairs like a pro, enjoys running in the yard, and loves leisurely walks on a leash. While she might need a little help getting up on things, she’s a true gem who just wants to be part of everything her family does—cuddling on the couch and snuggling in bed every night!

At just 7.9 lbs, Barbie is a little on the thin side and will need some “fattening up.” With her recent dental work and a loving home, we’re confident she’ll thrive! Thanks to her foster siblings, she’s learned to use a ramp, making life easier for her, and she’s diligently working on house and leash training.

Important Notes:

  • Needs another dog: Barbie thrives with at least one other dog for companionship and guidance. She enjoys playing with small and medium-sized dogs but hasn’t been tested with large dogs or cats.

  • Anxious “velcro dog”: This sweet girl loves being around her humans and can feel a bit anxious when they’re not nearby. A home where someone is around more often would be perfect for her.

  • Health: Barbie is spayed, up to date on her vaccines, heartworm negative, and has had a recent dental where she lost all her teeth. Don’t worry—she can still eat as long as her jaw can break it down (no kibble, please!).

Barbie is ready to find her forever family who will shower her with love and attention for the rest of her years. If you’re looking for a sweet, affectionate companion to brighten your days, apply to adopt this little mama today!

Go meet their pets

Our rescues are with fosters on the east coast. The location in which the foster resides should be listed with each profile.

We are setting up some adoption events now, but are free for private meet and greets if you are interested in one of our adoptable pets!

More about this rescue

We have a passion for senior animals. To be able to save an animal from dying alone in a shelter, to give it a chance to live out its last days/months/years in a home with the proper care and love it deserves, instead of a cold shelter, is what drives us to keep going.

We obviously have financial needs that come with rescuing senior dogs, so we will be rescuing puppies and younger dogs as well so we are able to care for our seniors.
