Meet the Pet
This helps Just Giant Rescue Inc - Illinois Chapter with pet care costs.
Foster Home Location : Newton NC
Dog's Name: Nova
Age or Date of Birth: 03/01/2024 (estimate)
Gender: Female
Breed: Cane Corso
Foster Dog's Weight: 55lbs
Nova gets along with:
Dogs?: Yes
Cats?: Unknown
Kids?: All Kids
Nova was found as a stray and brought to a rural southern shelter with her sister, Chevy.
Nova has come out of her shell as she’s gotten healthier and more comfortable. We’ve been working on desensitizing on things that frighten her- lawn care tools, loud vehicles, strangers. She is coming along beautifully!
Her back end does not seem to be gaining muscle mass and she bunny hops when running at faster speeds. She has an abnormally curled tail as well so there may be an injury or deformity.
She enjoys playing with toys but mostly inside and on a soft bed. She’s walking on leash well, never pulling and always by my side.
Nova's ideal family? Nova is happy being leash walked or in a yard. She is not a wonderer. She enjoys having other dogs around to play with but does have some stranger danger that we are working on. She may have a more protective personality when she grows up.
Nova has been diagnosed with slight hip dysplasia. Based on the recommendations of two vets, there is no current actions required but is something that adopters would need to monitor and care for as Nova ages. Additionally, Nova has a cherry-eye that will need to be corrected during her spay surgery once she is "of age".
