My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

(DOB 06/17/2023) Hank is a hunk and happy boy. This guy will give you endless love and affection, complete with hugs and kisses galore. He will keep up with your every step and keep you safe in every situation...including the bathroom.

Hank would love a home with some routine and structure and with a family member that is home a good chunck of the time. His day starts like many with a quick bathroom trip, a little breakfast and some snuggle time. He is pretty chill during the day while his foster mom works from home and will hang out in his crate. He is a great companion for an afterrnoon break and a nice little walk. He's demonstrated he can be an excellent co-worker and is very helpful writing emails. After the work day is over he is happy to help you take out any work stressors with a good ole' afternoon stroll. He is also just as great at chores because he "helps" around the house. He'd also be oh-so-happy to be your chef assistant and sneak a morsal or two off the counter while cooking, so keep your eyes out. He goes into his crate nicely at night to sleep.

Hank will keep you laughing as he discovers the big wide world. He's very curious about what is going on as long as he feels safe. This is a truly excellent addition to your life and will keep you laughing, living, and loving. Hank is happy playing tug of war, playing with other dogs, playing with toys, and hanging out with his people!

There is no need for a fenced yard with Hank since he really would prefer to just be with you. His little "shadow you" personality just doesn't require a fence. So if you live in an apartment, condo or townhome or home without a fence, definitely give Hank a chance! He'd be ok as an only dog or with a cool doggie sibling. Hank is a very enthusiastic player, and he might be a bit much for some older, not as active or low energy dogs or dogs that get too overly excited with high energy play. He is still a little mouthy and nippy so probably no young kids where their little fingers or toes could end up in his little mouth. He is also ok with dog-savvy cats.

Hank needs some more leash training and with some yummy treats and practice and patience he sure to do great at this as well.

As part of Hank’s $300 adoption fee, he will be neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet little boy, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Hank, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

1. Review the description of the pet you are interested in to make sure that the information we have fits with your particular needs and desires. In most cases, the information on the website is current and gives the information that we have about the particular pet. The picture of the pet does not tell the whole story.

2. Complete the adoption application at https://pawsforlifenc.org. Please make sure that you give us as much information about yourself as you can. List all animals currently living with you including other dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, and rodents. The application needs to be complete in order to help us determine if the pet you have chosen is a good match for your home.

3. Once the application is submitted we will contact you, your references, and your vet.

4. We require a home visit prior to dog adoptions.

5. If more than one person applies, we will go with the BEST fit. If all things are equal, we go in the order the applications were received.

6. Once the home visit has been completed, you will be asked to complete an adoption agreement.

7. The adoption fee is $325 for dogs under 6 months, $300 for 6 months and older. The adoption fee is $125 for kittens under 1 year ($225 for 2 kittens), $85 for cats 1 year and older. This fee helps us to provide the necessary medical care and other needs for the pets while in foster care.

8. All Paws For Life NC pets are spayed or neutered if old enough, current on shots, micro chipped, and to our knowledge, in good health before they are adopted out. Puppies under 6 months of age will require a $100 refundable spay/neuter deposit in addition to the adoption fee and a special puppy spay/neuter agreement. Kittens under 6 months will require a $50 refundable spay/neuter deposit in addition to the adoption fee. We are all volunteers and receive no monetary compensation for our work with the pets. The adoption fee is used to help defray costs in the rescue and care of the pets.

9. Congratulations! You are on your way to having your new companion. We hope that you and your new companion share a life of love and happiness. We welcome any comments you may wish to give us about your pet at any time.
