My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

To make the adoption process faster and easier, please visit www.almosthomeohio.org and complete our online application!

Goldie is 1 yr old

Goldie is a beautiful golden retriever/collie mix who loves people and is very friendly. She enjoys being outside, exploring and playing but inside is happy to snuggle and always makes sure she knows where her humans are. She was a stray and underweight when she arrived at Almost Home but is making up for lost time because she loves her mealtimes.

Although we do not know her history, she has already shown she understands “Sit,” “Down” and “Go to Bed.” She is treat-motivated, so her ongoing training should progress fairly smoothly. Goldie seems to take things in stride, and she is not anxious about sounds or movements. She is strong and working on walking on a leash. Goldie needs a fenced-in yard because she will try to flee if startled. Goldie is a happy, exuberant dog who is working on the finer expectations of home life and making great progress. She can hardly wait to meet her forever family.

The adoption fee is $400.

Additional adoption info

If you are interested in adopting one of our dogs please go directly to www.almosthomeohio.org for an application. Once the application is submitted, our adoption team can discuss the information on the application with you to determine if one of our dogs would be a good fit for your home. Lastly, a home visit will be done either by one of our volunteers or another reputable rescue volunteer in your area. We do adopt out of state, but it is up to the adopter to come meet and take the dog home. Sound like a lot to go through for a dog? It really isn't as complicated as it seems and it's the best way to ensure a good match. Please contact adoptions@almosthomeohio.org with any additional questions you may have after reviewing the information on our website.

More about this rescue

Almost Home Dog Rescue of Ohio is made up of a small (but growing) group of enthusiastic volunteers who want to make a difference in the lives of homeless dogs. Our background is with purebred collies and collie mixes but on occasion, we have other "family friendly" breeds. If you are searching for a collie, we'd like to help you find a wonderful companion that fits your family's lifestyle. All of our dogs are fully vaccinated and are spayed/neutered prior to adoption. They have also been tested and are negative for heartworm and are on heartworm preventative.
