My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Swiper is a difficult case and we are truly hoping for a miracle for her. She is a puppy mill survivor, and while she has made substantial progress, she has such a long way to go still. We cannot fathom the fear that this sweet girl has felt to have sewn so much distrust in her heart, but we know that in time she will overcome. Swiper is pee-pad trained and very quiet and independent. She quietly watches during the day and explores at night at her foster home. She loves other dogs, but she has had far more negative experiences with humans than weve been able to erase so far, and that breaks our hearts. She is incredibly timid, but is slowly working through her fears with her amazing foster mom and the help of her foster siblings and a copious quantity of roast beef. While she is doing well in foster, we want to give her every opportunity to build bonds with someone who can promise her consistency and love forever. Her ideal home will be with someone who is willing to be patient and understanding of her past traumas and willing to slowly work toward building trust and proving to her that her life in a cement box as a breeding machine is over forever. We are prepared to continue to cover her expenses (food, pee-pads, veterinary care) for up to 6 months for the right person as a foster-to-adopt set-up to ensure that you are fully confident you can offer her the commitment she deserves. Additional adoption info

Every dog is different: personality, temperament, energy, comfort with kids and other animals, medical needs and more. We take all these factors into consideration when making a forever-home match. We are careful about the placements we make. We do our best to match the right dog with the right adoptive home because we want this to be the pet’s permanent home. These steps ensure that we have all the information needed to make the best placement for you or your family.

More about this rescue

At Chicago Rescue Authority, our mission is to create a compassionate world where every animal is treated with love, respect, and dignity. We are dedicated to educating the public about the adverse realities of the mass-production industry for puppies, raising awareness about responsible pet adoption and ownership, and actively working towards reducing the overpopulation of dogs in shelters.

Our promise to Chicago is to build our rescue on the tenets of teamwork, education and compassion. We will listen to the concerns and ideas of those around us and be ready to grow alongside this rescue and this mission.

Volunteers, fosters, donors and adopters will be the backbone of this organization, just like every other animal welfare non-profit. We will be hosting a variety of fundraisers and mixers throughout the year aimed at building our support network. We can’t wait to meet all the animals whose lives we are going to change!
