My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

What my friends at ACC say about me:

I would appreciate slow introductions to new people and places to help me feel safe.

I would do best in a home without very tiny humans, although I could be open to older human children once I meet them.

I prefer to call the shots and enjoy coming to you when I'm ready for pets.

Spek appreciates attention and petting but appears to be moderately fearful or stressed in the shelter. She will likely need time to warm up to her new home. We recommend that she go to a home with some cat experience preferred or at least be well counseled in fearful cat behavior. Spek may be intimidated by small children, any home with older children prepared to adopt this cat should conduct a thorough interaction and endeavor to monitor this cat around their children to prevent these behaviors from being reinforced.

A volunteer writes: I love how Spek knows she has a good head on her shoulders and approaches her own ideas like she's never heard anything better. Skipping over the standard sniffs to greet me with nuzzles, Spek leaned her cheeks into my hand and basked in affection, but for just a moment. I thought we were going to sit and cuddle, but Spek sighed with exaggerated exhaustion (with me, with her ever demanding responsibilities, I don't really know), but just as quickly perked herself up. She seemed to say she was glad I was finally there because we could still get there in time. Before I could ask where, Spek was nuzzling herself under my arm to go over to the window. I'd never blame a girl for trying and she really turned her head to ask me if I was kidding when I suggested we stay in for more cuddles. Spek knows what she's doing and her ideas are fun, but thankfully as open minded as she is confident and settled in for some extra pets. I love spending time with her and really think that you will too!
