My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

I'm Chaz's Foster Mom and I'd like to walk you through his perfect day. Chaz will give you the sweetest, wiggliest greeting as you approach his kennel door with his breakfast. He then likes a short run and exploration in the yard before turning in and rounding out his night’s sleep with a bonus morning nap. Afterwards, he loves to get haltered up for his morning walk. 20-30 minutes is long enough for Chaz. He’s pretty strong on leash, but nonreactive to other dogs which is nice. Later he’d love a car ride to anywhere, even the vet. (His vet reciprocates, everyone there loves Chaz!) Or a drive for a pupp-uccino, local coffee shop or just a spin around town. He’d then like more time in the yard to protect you from all the squirrels, lizards and butterflies. Before you know it, meal time again. In the evening he'd love to sit on the couch with you for some pets and good belly rubbin'! He flips on his back for you, while in a swaddle position to make this very easy. All the times inbetween, he'd really just like to be at your feet. When you are not home, he's very happy in his kennel. That's a perfect day for Chaz, and you don’t have to do it in that order or even fit all of that in daily of course. That's just a peek into what things could be like with this little guy.

Chaz wanted to add a couple of things: I am small for my breed and am only 40lbs and my head is only 19in off the ground. I photograph big, but I think that's my smashing personality coming through. I sit on command AND I stay put too, until you release me with a "yes"! I also go to my kennel anytime you ask, but I could probably be free roaming doggie in a house if you let me. Yes, I do think I would like that. To top it all off, I'm playful and I like to retrieve a ball and play tug-o-war. I've been looking for a home since I was impounded at the shelter back in February 2024. That's a long time. I'd do anything for a home of my own!!! You can foster me or adopt me...just fill out the application and someone will take it from there. Signed, Chazzie

It is the policy of the society to provide humane care and treatment for animals needing protection in the area served by the society; to seek to return lost animals to their owners; to seek suitable homes for animals without owners; to promote spay/neuter in the community; to encourage a network of foster homes for adoptable animals, to aid in encouraging adequate conditions in our city shelter and to educate this community in living with their pet and being responsible pet owners, i.e.-education on health, training and behavioral care, as well as ways to recognize abuse, neglect or cruelty. In its care and disposition of animals, the society shall maintain the highest level of care and integrity in placement, care and education.
