Meet Jasper - A Friendly Senior Sweetheart!

Jasper is a calm, quiet, and very friendly senior male Chihuahua who loves to be close to his humans. During the day, he's happiest curled up on his foster mom's lap. At night, Jasper taps at the bed until he's picked up, then he snuggles in for about an hour before heading to the living room to sleep with his buddy Dodger. Jasper enjoys exploring the backyard, rolling in the grass, and gets along well with other dogs.

Jasper came from the same home as Dodger, and while they aren't a bonded pair, they've lived together for years and would be happy to be adopted together-but they're also fine being adopted separately.

If you're looking for a gentle, loving companion, Jasper would love to be part of your family!

Adopt-A-Pet Events in the Kansas City Area

Cat adoptions are held at the PetSmart at 115th and Metcalf in Overland Park KS every Saturday from 12:00 to 3:00. Cats available for adoption every day at PetSmart in-store cage area.

Dog adoptions are held at the PetSmart in Olathe KS at 119th and Strang Line, every Saturday from 12:00 to 3:00.

Dog adoptions are held at the PetSmart in Lee's Summit MO at 920 NE Sam Walton Lane, also every Saturday from 12:00 and 3:00.

The Heart of America Humane Society is an all-volunteer, 501(c)3 non-profit organization helping to place shelter and foster animals into permanent homes in and around the greater Kansas City metro area.

Our goal is to save and improve the lives of Kansas City's homeless companion animals by promoting responsible pet ownership. The Heart of America Humane Society (HAHS) partners with the Lee's Summit Animal Shelter (Lee's Summit MO) and KCK Animal Services (Kansas City KS) to increase pet adoptions into responsible, permanent homes.

Background
Our organization does not have a permanent facility or paid staff, so many of our adoptions take place at PetSmart stores and occasionally through other event venues. Some events raise awareness and bring in donations for our animal support efforts, while others help acknowledge and show appreciation for our own volunteers (who perform all duties outside of their regular jobs).
