Stopping for a chat? Then say hello to Matt! This smushy-faced sweetheart is thought to have endured a life of hardship. When he was found, Matt was covered in fleas, missing a ton of hair and struggling to see through his crust-covered eyes. San Antonio Animal Care Services stepped in to help him, and when SNIPSA saw that he was available for intake, we couldn’t say no either! Matt is now on the road to recovery after being treated for the fleas and his resulting allergies. As a three-year-old Shih Tzu, we know that it won’t take long for him to find a forever home. Shih Tzu’s are popular dogs due to their small size and unique appearance. They are typically very friendly by nature, and Matt is no exception! This boy spends most of his time napping, people-watching and soaking in attention. Given time to adjust, more of his personality will surely begin to emerge. So, if you think you can offer Matt a new life of love and happiness, apply to meet him!

SNIPSA is an organization formed by a group of veterinarians and caring individuals dedicated to helping homeless and unwanted animals in San Antonio and the surrounding area. SNIPSA does not have a standing shelter and depends on a core of volunteers to foster and rehabilitate animals in their homes. This provides us with the opportunity to learn first hand about the animal’s needs and behavior in order to facilitate an appropriate adoption. SNIPSA was incorporated in 2005 and has re-homed more than 3000 animals.
