My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

ADOPTION FEE: $450

Meet the most handsome man Petey! Petey is ready for his forever home!

From his wonderful foster:
"Petey our lover boy. So patient and sweet, he loves to nap and cuddle and is the gentlest boy around. He loves all people (grown and small) and is working on getting along with all pups!

From his amazing foster:
"After a couple of walks he is really amazing on the leash and doesn't pull at all now. He picked it up so fast. He's got some separation anxiety though and has a hard time being left in his crate during my classes as of right now. Just a big goofy puppy though and very gentle. Petey is working on his leash manners with other dogs around! He thinks that my lap is actually a dog bed and likes to curl up there. An absolute love, the size of his head is the same size as his heart."

From his amazing foster:
"Petey does great with other dogs but enjoys his space, has had no accidents in our home since pick up on Saturday & does great with kids(of all ages)! Is very gentle with smaller children(5 and under). Has great table manners does not beg or jump on counters/tables when food is there. Sleeps great in a crate or on a bed, once he decompresses to an area has a very calm and relaxing demeanor."

More from his foster: Petey is continuing to do well and is very patient with Gideon (his young foster brother who is also up for adoption!) just a sweet sleepy boy."

Finder notes - Follow-up post for the dog that was loose near Grandi that had the leash tied to his neck. Got him and he is the sweetest boy in the world. So loving and friendly and wants to give and receive all the love.

Previous Staff notes - GOOFBALL ALERT! Petey is an absolute ham! He LOVES people and he spreads so much love to everyone he meets! He's full of energy and loves walks and adventures too! He's a great car rider and he enjoys snuggling up to express his love and gratitude. Petey is a social star when it comes to meeting other dogs too! He's well socialized and he gets along with everyone! Poor guy was found running the streets dragging rope from his neck so we can assume he was tied up somewhere. He deserves a loving home where he can be part of the family to enjoy curling up on the couch to watch Netflix, having his own fluffy dog bed, some dog friends to play with, the opportunity to go on adventures, and so much more! He's a fantastic dog with nothing but love and kindness in his heart!

Bio- Hey there! You might want to consider Petey if you're looking for a smart, funny, athletic, and brave pup. Petey is a well-rounded dog with a playful side and a friendly attitude. He would be the perfect companion for an adventurous family. He gets along with other dogs, and he enjoys social time! If you're a family looking for a dog who loves to play, Petey is your guy! He would be the perfect addition to your family. Come visit Petey today at the shelter!

We are a foster-based rescue and generally do not have pups available to meet at our office except during adoption events on Saturdays. Not every dog attends every adoption event.

Interested in this pup? The first step is to complete our online application by clicking the "Apply for Adoption" button. Please note that we are only able to finalize adoptions at events for approved adopters. The earlier you apply, the better as it takes time to review and approve applications.

We host adoption events almost every Saturday from 11:00am to 2:00pm at our rescue office (1721 W Harmony, unit 102, Fort Collins, Co 80526)! Check our Instagram and/or Facebook page for info on where we will be hosting adoptions this weekend!

All Aboard Animal Rescue saves dogs and puppies from high-kill shelters in other states. These pups are brought to Colorado, where they are required to be spayed or neutered - breaking the cycle of unwanted litters of puppies who end up as strays! Please consider supporting us in this mission by adopting, fostering, volunteering, or donating.

Additional adoption info

We are a foster based rescue, and do not currently have a location. To meet or adopt any of our dogs or puppies you will need to attend one of our weekly Saturday adoption events. You must be present at the event to adopt a dog. PLEASE NOTE: Pre-approved applications are required in order to adopt at the event.

We start marketing our available dogs and puppies BEFORE they arrive in CO to work on finding them their forever homes as quickly as possible and to decrease the amount of times they have to be moved around. Most of our dogs and puppies are NOT in CO when they are posted on the website.

ADOPTION FEES***:

Why aren't rescue dogs free?
Because it takes a lot of time and money to get them to our rescue, vetted and ready for adoption. You are not paying a fee for the puppy, but rather a fee for all of money that went into the dog to get it to us, fostered, vetted and ready for adoption. All of our adoption fees include: age appropriate shots, a free vet exam and discounts at our partner vet clinic, and 30 days free of pet insurance.

Why is there a price range for each adoption category?
Adoption fees can vary slightly per dog based on their breed. The more desirable breeds will have a slightly higher adoption fee on a tiered system. Bronze- $25 more, Silver- $50 more, Gold- $75 more

Unaltered Puppies (5 months and under)
$500 to $575- Our puppies that arrive unaltered are not going to be fixed since research shows that fixing them before 5-6 months is detrimental to their health and development.

Altered Puppies (5 months and under)
$550 to $625- These puppies arrive to use already altered!

Young Adults (6 months to 1 year)
$500 to $575

Adults (1-5 years)
$425 to $500

Older Adults (5-8 years)
$375 to $450

Seniors (8+ years)
$300 to $375- Occasionally fee decrease will apply here on a case by case basis

Step 1 – Fill Out An Adoption Application
Please fill out an application online, which can be found under the adoptions tab. Applications must be filled out in full and electronically signed or we will not review them. Please allow us 24-48 hours to process your application and get back to you. You will receive an email back from us letting us know if you are able to adopt or not. If you fill out an application less than 24 hours before one of our adoption events, do not expect to get a response back from us before the event.

Step 2 – Placing a Dog or Puppy on Hold
We are able to hold one dog or puppy per approved applicant to give you the first chance to meet and hopefully adopt that puppy. Dogs on hold will only be held for the first hour of our adoption event from 10-11am. After 11am all dogs will be available on a first come first serve basis. A dog is not on hold for you until you have received a confirmation email back from us letting you know that your application has been approved and you have confirmed that you will be at our adoption event to meet your chosen dog.

Step 3 – Attending an Adoption Event
Our adoption events are held every Saturday from 10am-1pm at Petco (2211 S College Ave) and our AAAR office (1721 W Harmony Rd Unit 102). Occasionally we have them at different locations, so keep an eye on our social media pages for more info! If you have a dog on hold a volunteer can help you locate that dog and you get the next hour to socialize with that dog and decide if it is a good fit. If you do not have a dog on hold, you are welcome to come meet our dogs that do not have holds on them, but dogs with holds will not be available to meet until after 11am. Volunteers will be happy to answer questions and help you introduce the dog to your current dog(s), kid(s), etc. Once you are ready to adopt there will be more paperwork and an adoption fee. Be prepared to take your pup home with you that day!

Step 4 – Adopting
Even though you have already submitted an application online, there will be more paperwork required to make the adoption official. You will need to complete all of the required adoption paperwork and pay the adoption fee. ADOPTION FEES ARE NONREFUNDABLE.
