My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Currently recovering from a broken leg, this little soul is in need of a loving foster to help her heal—both physically and emotionally. Despite her injury, Watermelon is a bundle of affection and joy, always ready to snuggle up and offer unconditional love. She’s looking for a safe, calm space where she can rest and recover, surrounded by care and patience. Watermelon will be forever grateful for a temporary home where she can heal, play, and eventually run with joy again. Could you be the one to help her on this journey? ????Watermelon is a sweet-as-punch pup with a broken leg which requires time and TLC to heal. We would love to get her a foster placement where she can benefit from the socialization and care she’d receive in a home setting.

Reason for Foster: Broken Leg

Foster Time Frame: 4+ weeks

Foster Care Plan: Watermelon has an external splint stabilizing the bones of her leg to allow them to heal properly. The bandages which hold the splint on her leg need to be kept as dry and clean as possible, and they will require regular changing by our medical team. Watermelon will do best in a relatively calm environment where she can receive stimulation and participate in gentle playtime while not going overboard with high-energy activities. She has medications to be given daily and will require regular visits to the shelter for bandage changes and recheck exams to ensure she is healing properly. We will provide all the necessary supplies as well as a consult with our medical team at the time of pick up, so that you feel confident in caring for sweet Watermelon.

Watermelon is also available through our Foster to Adopt program, which allows pets awaiting or undergoing medical treatment to be placed with prospective adopters before they are made available for adoption.
