My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

ATTENTION DOG LOVERS!

Meet Raven  a beautiful 5-6-year-old, 54-pound girl!

Raven an energetic gal! Age is just a number to Raven and still has big energy for fetch and running laps in her dream backyard. Raven is a little shy at first but if you introduce her to a ball or her favorite taxi toy her eyes light up like a Christmas tree! As the days went by Raven started to shed her layers and allowing her foster family to give her the love she’s been craving! After a few days went by she showed her sassy side and boy does she have a lot to say! The best part are her little nibble kisses and cuddles. She’s QUEEN energy!

Raven things: She will keep you busy with a game of fetch. Loves to couch rot with you and keep you company if you’re working from home or studying. She is a true guardian dog and just wants to make sure her person is taken care of. She is very independent but also loves to be a Velcro dog. You honestly get the best of both worlds with Raven. What her foster family loves about Raven is her BIG personality, her sass, her eagerness to be loved and love you back, how bright she is, her mischievous side and being known as the sandwich thief in our household. She is also crate trained and doesn’t mind going in her woman cave to relax on her own. She doesn’t have separation but likes to keep busy with her enrichment toys/puzzles.

Commands known: Raven knows crate, get your toy, leave it, sit, stay, and paw (when she feels like it)

Leash manners: We are working on Ravens leash manners. She’s afraid of loud noises and fast movements and city life doesn’t help. She does prefer early quiet morning walks with her foster dad.

Kids/Dog manners: Raven would do well with children 13 or above! She could live with another dog of her size and low energy if properly introduced and keeping toys and food separate. As of right now we have been working on slow introductions with her foster dogs siblings and doesn’t react to larger breeds when outside.

Enjoyments: Raven truly loves being your nanny and playing fetch! She loves talking to you and rubbing herself on you. If you’re in bed she’s in bed with you! If you’re on the couch watching Law and Order she’s on the couch watching Law and Order. She will also protect you from the bad guys or run to her crate haha. Our golden girl loves a good toy and loves to show you ALL her toys one by one! She’s like a little kid on Christmas and shows her gratitude by kissing you or giving you love nibbles. What her foster family loves and noticed about Raven is her love for life. She truly just loves being here and being a part of every moment.

Things we are working on: To set Raven up for success we have been working on reintroducing her to the outside world and showing her that its ok to be scared and that we are here. We are showing Raven that she is safe and that certain bulky household items are not bad. We are working on positive reinforcement when we are outside to help her cope. Due to her pass and how she was abandoned she does get fearful and insecure when being outside, but we are working on it. She does better when she sees our resident dog outside unbothered.

Potty details: Raven is house broken for the most part and will let you know when she needs to go. She will do so by barking at you or squeaking her toy loudly to get your attention. She does require 4-5 potty breaks per day.

Raven has been dumped twice at the shelter and the last time she was left outside in the cold tied up overnight. She wasn’t acclimating well to shelter life and because of that she only had minutes to be rescued. This poor girl has had a rough start to her short life and yet she stills finds it in her heart to forgive and open her heart.

Our hope for Raven is to find a patient loving home where she can receive the love and care she deserves. A home she can spend the rest of her years playing fetch in her dream backyard. A home that can make her feel safe and seen, a home where she can have the support she never received in her previous life. A home that can play sleepy time jazz when she’s feeling blue or scared. Ultimately a home that will love and accept the quirky, loving girl that she is.
