Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
This handsome guy is around 1 year old and weighs 54lbs. Our staff believes he’s a Lab mix, but we suspect he might also have some bully genetics in there as well. Gravy is a sweet but timid pup at the shelter. While he’s still finding his footing, he’s shown that he needs a little extra time to warm up to new situations and friends. During his dog testing, he was understandably scared and chose to avoid the other dogs, but with one calm pup, he showed much more interest and confidence! Gravy would thrive in a home with a calm, patient dog who can help him feel secure and guide him through slow introductions. He’s a loving boy who just needs a little encouragement to come out of his shell. If you’re looking for a gentle companion to join your family, come meet Gravy at the shelter! With the right support, he has so much potential to blossom into a wonderful companion. 🏡💙 Stop by during business hours to see if Gravy is the perfect fit for you!RCHS does not conduct DNA tests on dogs who enter our facility therefore we are unable to guarantee breed or breed mix. Information provided by shelter staff, volunteers, and veterinarians is used to give a best estimate as to a dog’s breed make up. We do our best to inform adopters about the potential breeds for each dog.
We are a dog only facility so we do not know how most of our dogs will be with cats. Even if a dog is surrendered to us and said to be good with cats there is no way to be sure the dog will be good with your cats. We do have a 7 day foster-to-adopt program so that you can see how the dog interacts with your cats before adoption.

We do require all pets in the home be spayed or neutered at adoption. If not we generally will offer to help get them spayed or neutered or offer spots on our low cost clinic. Pets must be up to date on vaccines and live inside.
Our adoption process starts by filling out an application online at https://rosscountyhumanesociety.org/adoption-application/ or in person at 2308 Lick Run Rd. Chillcothe, OH. We will check vet reference and landlord if applicable. You then watch your email for a response. Next you come into the shelter and meet the dog or dogs you are interested in. From there you can adopt the dog or use our 5 day Foster-to-adopt program (if you live within an hour of Chillicothe).
