My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We all know how we get that awww feeling when we see an adorable young dog that needs our help. Stevie is the kind of pup who, once comfortable in her environment, snuggles in, loves you up and then puts her head on your shoulder breathing her warm breath. She's so sweet and so very loving and irresistible that you just can't help falling head over heels in love.

This is the case unless a dog like Stevie is wandering terrifying city streets or is scheduled for euthanasia in a high-kill shelter that quickly runs out of space,

Farfel's Rescue received a plea from Rescued Pets Movement in Texas to save the life of Stevie, an 8 month old, 29 lb Australian Cattle Dog / Border Collie that is nothing but pure love! Shelter personnel fell in love with this pup's sweet energy and desire to please all those that are kind to her. We responded almost immediately that we'd be more than happy to accept precious Stevie into Farfel's Rescue.

Stevie is such a perfect size and weight to be able to accompany her family just about everywhere a smaller-sized dog is welcome. This sweetie-pie will fit right in due to her great temperament and desire to please. Stevie is already starting to understand that kind and cooperative behavior makes great things happen in life. Our dream for this cuddly pup is a forever Colorado home with a family that cherishes her for life.

As Stevie becomes comfortable in her forever home, she will blossom and become a fuzzy ball of good-will that loves to please. The happier her family is with her behavior, the more she will shine with her accomplishments. Farfel's would like to see Stevie in a home that includes her in family time and activities (and some couch-time with belly rubs would be perfect!) as well as taking that extra step to participate in positive reinforcement / force free obedience classes. These classes successfully teach a very smart and active pup like Stevie the skills to accompany their family out into the world with excellent behavior. Farfel's Rescue is happy to provide a list of approved virtual and in-person force-free trainers in your area.

Stevie will be a loving and devoted companion for very active retirees who have the time and desire to be best friends with a silly, fun-loving and irresistible young pup. Stevie would enjoy another fun-loving dog to play with...she's so fun to watch as she puts her positive energy into enjoying the day with a furry friend. This engaging girl would also do well with a younger family that works from a home-based office. She would bask in the attention and cuddles periodically throughout the day that this life-style brings.

Stevie is up to date on her vetting and vaccinations to stay true to Farfel's commitment to only adopting out healthy dogs. She has also been spayed to fulfill our commitment to ending the tragic canine overpopulation challenge.

Stevie is arriving on transport in Boulder on Friday 10/25/2024. Applications are currently being accepted for this gorgeous girl and can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If you're interested in this extremely sweet, cuddly and fun-loving best friend, please fill out our application completely and submit.

**PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Stevie, please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in many cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Farfel's Rescue is a fully foster based rescue, and offers a one week trial with every adoption. We feel that this is much more beneficial to not only the dog, but the adopter too. We believe that only getting 20-30 minutes with a dog before deciding on a lifetime commitment is not a fair amount of time to the adopter, or the dog. Therefore we give adopters one week with the dog to assure it is the right fit, and offer a full refund of their adoption fee should it not workout within the week trial.

An Adoption Application and an Adoption Contract must be completed before any dog can begin their one week foster. Our average adoption fee is $695. This amount serves to cover vetting, spay/neuter, all vaccinations, temperament testing, transport, a microchip, harness, food, and treats.
Our dogs come from Texas, Kansas, New Mexico, Oklahoma and rural Colorado.

Go meet their pets

Pets are transported from the southern states every week. Almost 100% of the time, the dogs are spoken for as a result of adoption applications that can be referenced under Adoption at farfelsrescue.com. We study the applications. If the app indicates there is a match, followed up by a home visit and reference checks, the process moves to the next step. The adopter is committing to a one week foster (of course the dog can be returned at any time prior), and can then choose to finalize the adoption.

More about this rescue

We own a pet boutique named Farfel's Farm & Rescue on Pearl Street in Boulder, Colorado. We have had the good fortune to find our niche in the Boulder community and experience success. We felt it very important to "pay it forward" in gratitude. We couldn't think of a better endeavor than to save dogs who were out of time in the southern states, yet had been identified with great temperaments. We dedicate our efforts to their good health and ultimate wonderful, permanent homes.
