Dog Name: Laika
Breed: Great Dane
Sex: Female
Age: 5 months
Weight: 46 pounds
Medical Needs: spay app is with georgetown spca 11/26. Keeping this appointment is a condition of adoption.
For this reason, adopters must live within one hour of Georgetown, and be willing to travel there for the appt.
We also highly recommend talking to your vet about scheduling a gastropexy to prevent bloat which is common in Great Danes. This will be the responsibility of the adopter.
Housebroken: no, but working on it. Laika does well when kept on a schedule, but forget and she'll leave you large presents!
Crate trained: Laika is getting better about her crate during the day. She now goes in willingly. However, she would rather be with you or outside playing. She sleeps through the night in her crate with no problems. We go to bed 10/1030 and get up 630/7.
Good in the car: Yes
Good on a leash: Working on it. She is a large curious puppy.
Energy level: Medium. Laika plays hard and then crashes. Rinse and repeat. Lol
Need a fenced in yard: No, but if no fence must have walks to tame her energy.
Dog Friendly: Yes, she loves my goldens.
If yes, does your foster need another dog in its adoptive homes? No.
Cat Friendly: Not tested
Kid Friendly: Yes
If yes, what's the youngest child you'd recommend they be placed with? Any age with proper supervision
Special traits that make your foster special or that we need to know about them: Laika is such a sweet pup. She is goofy and crazy sometimes. She loves to play fetch. The football is her favorite toy! She is a velcro dog, where you go, she will go. She will do dog things like drink out of the toilets and lick poop if not supervised! She is gonna be big, but she thinks she's a lap dog!! Loves to give kisses and snuggles.
