If yes, what's the youngest child you'd recommend they be placed with? Older children who understand that they need to go slow and be respectful of her space.
Traits that make your foster special or that we need to know about them?
Austin and her siblings came to Delaware from a shelter down south after being trapped as strays. While her brother and sister came around quickly, it's been a much, much slower process for the less-confident Austin. But! We've reached our turning point, and now, things are going much more smoothly for this smiley little love.
If you do not proclaim “Ooh, big stretch!” every time you are stretched at, you run the risk of hurting Austin's feelings. And no one wants that. Yard time consists of games of hide and seek, chase, and little confidence-building exercises that have done worlds of good for her. She's just as happy romping and running around with you as she is with other dogs - it's the friendship she craves.
While it's true that Austin is nervous when she first meets new people, give her the time to come out of her shell, and you'll never have known she was shy to begin with. She's found out how much fun life can be when she has someone who encourages her to be her best, and it makes every day so. Much. Better. Just ask her, if you don't believe me.
