My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello, my name is Nimbus…short for Cumulonimbus (because that’s a mouthful)! I am a sweet 3-year-old fluffy gray tabby gentleman who was living life outside until the search for an escaped kitty led to me being trapped instead. The foster who trapped me was very concerned because my right eye did not look quite right. Originally when I was neutered, the vet thought I had no second eye but after getting antibiotics for an upper respiratory infection, my caregivers realized I was born with an eye that was not fully formed. While awaiting further answers I had to get yucky eye drops which made me very grumpy! Fortunately, even though I seemed quite grumpy (like a storm cloud…is my name making more sense now?), one of my caregivers could sense I wanted love! After a few gentle pats, I knew the street life was no longer my idea of a good time and have not looked back.

Even though my eye did need to be removed, I am a perfectly happy and healthy boy. I am a bit shy of people, but I get along with other cats and dogs, though I would do just fine as an only cat. I haven’t met any children yet, but I think older kids would be less scary. I love to play with feather wands and sleep in high up places like cat towers. I also love to eat! I like dry food, wet food, and treats. My favorite treats EVER are Lil Soups and Churu. I will be sure to come running if I hear a can or politely remind you with my sweet soft meow if you happen to forget to feed me!

My foster mom absolutely loves my soft fur and my sweet nature. I don’t like to be picked up, so we are working on getting me acclimated by small, short lifts every day. If you are looking for a unique looking, sweet boy who likes to relax and soak up love then I am the cat for you!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We have an adoption application to learn a bit about the home our cats will be going to and the family's motivation for adoption and expectations about pet ownership. We also have an adoption contract, which includes a no declawing and indoor-only clause along with a vet promissory note that ensures you will continue with the medical care and spay/neuter if needed.

We DO NOT do any out of state adoptions except on the NC border on a case-by-case basis.

We require a donation of $120 for adoption of unaltered kittens with a PTV Contract. All kittens receive vaccine series and wormings as well as medical treatment as needed. The adopter is responsible for obtaining their rabies vaccine and spay/neuter if the kitten is not of age at the time of adoption. We can provide resources for low cost clinics that offer these services.

We ask a donation of $25 to adopt Career/barn cats.

We require a donation of at least $140 for adoption of Spayed/neutered cat.

Bonded pairs adoption donation is $200.

Sometimes we require rental checks or home inspections. We always have a Meet n Greet to make sure everyone gets along. We encourage bringing the whole family!

More about this rescue

Our mission is to improve the lives of displaced cats and reduce feral cat population in Hampton Roads by socializing outdoor-born and feral kittens for adoption into loving forever homes. We are a VDACS registered 501c3 nonprofit, founded in 2014 with over 60 foster homes.

Our heart is in TNR (Trap, Neuter, Return of ferals), where cats are fixed, vaccinated, ear tipped, and allowed to live out their lives without reproducing. We are advocates for advancing legal and social acceptance of TNR in Hampton Roads. Our unique feral kitten socialization program has a 90% success rate in socializing feral-born kittens to become loving, in-home pets.

We are always seeking fosters, volunteers, transporters, and trappers to join our team!
