Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Thank you for your interest in our adorable mice here at Lollypop Farm. Mice are fun and constantly entertaining pets. Despite their small size, when you take time to get to know them, you'll find they have big personalities. From shy and quiet to bold and curious, they pack a lot of individuality into a tiny package.
Mice are easy pets to care for - no need to hire a mouse-walker if you can't get home at lunchtime - and their high activity level makes them fun to watch. Whether you choose a glass tank or a cage with inch bar spacing, you'll enjoy watching Mouse TV. They'll need some bedding to burrow through, a hidey-house, a food dish and water bottle, mouse-sized chewables to keep their teeth healthy, and enrichment items to keep them entertained, and you're good to go.
Enrichment items can include their favorite: a wheel, tunnels (paper towel tubes work just fine, or you can buy clear plastic tubes made for small pets), something to climb on, and things like ceramic aquarium accessories with spots to hide treats. Mix and match to keep them on their tiny tippy toes.
Small treats - like puffed rice or Cheerios - are a great way to bond with your mice. They'll learn to come to you, and you can use treats to lure them into your hand and even teach them tricks. Don't let treats take the place of a healthy diet, though. Like all pets, mice need the right nutrients to thrive, and there are many good commercially available diets available.
One important thing to remember is that female mice can live happily in groups, but male mice become territorial when they reach adulthood and will fight, so male mice should always live alone.
Could your future include some tiny new friends? Why not meet our mice and see who squeaks to your heart?

More about this shelter
Mission:
Lollypop Farm, the Humane Society of Greater Rochester, works together with our community better the lives of animals through justice, prevention, and life-saving care.
Vision: A just and compassionate world for all animals.
Lollypop Farm is not your typical animal welfare organization. We don’t classify ourselves as merely a shelter, simply taking in and rehoming pets. Rather, we are your partner. We’ll work with you to build a just and compassionate world for all animals–to save animals from abuse and suffering, to find a resource to keep your pet, to guide you in adopting a new pet, to make the tough decision to say goodbye to your family friend or to share information on how to help animals in your daily life.
