My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

The best companion!

Howdy! My name is Joraley, and I’m a 6-year-old, 48-pound neutered Weimaraner mix.  I’m one of the lucky ones to have escaped from Ellos Son La Razon in Ensenada and feel so grateful that I have this second chance!

I’m a gentle, sweet, and loyal boy who loves having company.  I like to be near my people, but I’m not an in-your-face type and am respectful of boundaries. In fact, I’m learning how to be affectionate, and one of my favorite things to do is lean up against you for a rub, then flop near you on the couch and slowly inch my way over. My fave activities include getting treats, taking walks, and playing with other doggie friends. I also love entertaining myself with toys, and I’ll take out every toy from the toy basket and trot them around the house.

As far as my training goes, I’m fully potty-trained, and I’m good with crates, too. In fact, I’ll happily plop inside one, then sit and wait for my treat.  At night, I sleep inside my crate like a champ and don’t make a single peep. During the day is a different story, though, since I don’t care much to be crated when I know you’re also home.

Leash training for me is a work in progress. However, I’m very treat motivated and not easily distracted by other dogs, so I think I’ll master it in no time! Other than that, though, I have mild/moderate separation anxiety when left behind, and I’m working hard on improving in that area.

My ideal home (either mellow or active) would be one that has regular company, and a work-from-home type situation would be a huge plus.  Kiddos and kitties are currently an unknown for me, but I’d love to have a doggie sibling or two.

Are we destined to be together? My adoption fee is $250 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip.  If you want to take me home, please fill out the form on the website here: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We prioritize local San Diego applicants. We do not provide transport of dogs to other states, and don't allow the dogs to fly in the cargo of the plane.
Our adoption process from start to finish, involves 3 standard forms, and 2 situational.
All potential applicants must be capable of providing their adopted pet with routine and emergency veterinary care (yearly health checks, keeping vaccinations current, heartworm/flea preventatives, and immediate care in the event the animal is sick or injured). They are required to license their pet, and keep an identification tag on their pet at all times.
All applicants must agree to a home check, and provide us with a veterinary reference, or personal references if you're a first-time pet owner. Our home checks are not to invade the privacy of the applicants, we do this to ensure the pet is going into a safe home. We do not discriminate against non-homeowners, or those living in apartments, condos, or otherwise.
Our adoption fees vary from $150-1000.
Applicants must agree in writing that if for any reason they are unable to keep or care for their pet, the pet will be surrendered back to our rescue and not re-homed, turned over to a shelter, pound, rescue, new owner, sold, etc.

More about this rescue

Overview
The Animal Pad is a nonprofit, all-breed dog rescue devoted to saving the lives of dogs facing euthanasia at high kill animal shelters and off the streets of Mexico. We rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home locally.

We are dedicated to animal advocacy, and educating dog owners on the importance of spaying and neutering their pets. We are a foster based rescue, and rely heavily on the kindness and generosity of the amazing people who make donations toward the rescue and care of the dogs we save.

We are always looking for adopters, fosters, donations, volunteers, etc.. Please let us know if you would like to get involved by contacting us at one of the email addresses found below.
