My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

🐾 Meet Bat Masterson! 🐾

This handsome little guy was found in a parking lot and never claimed by an owner. At just 6 months old and weighing in at 8 lbs, he’s ready to find his special new home! 🏡

We believe Bat is a Rat Terrier, known for being both sturdy and elegant. These pups are tenacious hunters in the field and sensible companions at home. They’re athletic, agile, and LOVE to play—especially when it involves chasing balls!
🎾

BAT IS IN A FOSTER HOME SO YOU WILL NEED TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO MEET HIM.

However, Bat has some challenges that need to be addressed right away. When he first started staying in his foster home he had some separation anxiety and resource guarding of other animals when around the people he likes due to his own insecurity. 😟 After 3 weeks he is doing much better and doesn't resource guard as much. Most of this is due to figuring out that Bat Masterson isn't much of a traveler and would prefer to stay home rather than go places. It turns out he does get sick in the car and he is his happiest when his day has a lot of routine in it.

Bat Masterson is getting the hang of the leash, but his recall still needs some work. Like most terriers he has a mind of his own and isn't afraid to use it. He's smart and will definitely try to make his own rules about life if he can. He loves to snuggle and sleep with you. He will snuggle under the blankets but prefers to keep his face out so he can see what is going on.

Like most small dogs Bat Masterson thinks he is tough and isn't afraid to take on a larger dog so he needs to be monitored with larger dogs for his own safety.

Bat is about 80% house trained and he's crate trained. He sleeps quietly through the night when near his people or dog friends. 💤🐶 He’ll do best in a home with children over 5 who can respect his space and be gentle with him.

With proper socialization and patience, Bat Masterson can become a loving companion. If you’re ready to help him blossom, please consider giving this little guy a forever home! ❤️
