Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
From his current foster: Pepperoni (AKA Ronnie) is a handsome, affectionate, and happy young pup who is very attached to his people and resident dog (Sylvia). He is very curious wanting to know where his people are and loves playing chase and tug of war with Sylvia. He also loves a good wrestle and responds to cues to settle when he gets really excited. In the evening, he’s looking for a cozy spot to cuddle and doze off. His mouthing has gotten better although he did chew the collar off Sylvia’s neck. Obviously he was gentle and she didn’t seem to mind. He continues to work on not jumping, but he responds well to corrections.
Ronnie is house-trained and is working on his leash skills, he still likes to grab the leash and pretend he is walking you. He is can be a little nervous when meeting unknown men for the first time but he warms up fairly quickly when he has assessed this is a safe person. He doesn’t appear to have much experience with small children and occasionally will bark. He does still like to jump up to say hi, so dog savvy kids or older children would be ideal.
Ronnie sleeps in my room on a little couch. He falls asleep there and then has found his way in the night to curl up on the bed. He is easily lured with savory treats to get into his crate but doesn't love it or choose it on his own. He seems to enjoy a car ride but needs a little help getting in and out if his back legs aren’t cooperating.
From the Vet:
Hi! My name is Pepperoni and my friends at TBB Vet Center wanted to help me share some information about my medical care. I came into rescue having some issues with my mobility. I did not have very obvious injuries at first, so we were hoping with rest we could help my issues, however it has been determined that I have luxating patellas on both knees that will require surgery to fix. My right side will get done first followed by 8 weeks of recovery time and then the second left side will get done followed by another 8 weeks of recovery and at home physical therapy. While I have a long road ahead of me I know that my forever family will be so happy to have me happy and healthy at the end of all of it. TBB will agree to cover both surgeries along with 1 round of medication associated with each procedure and 1 recheck appointment with radiographs around 8 weeks. I hope to meet you and found find a family that can help lead me to my healthy happily ever after!

More about this rescue
The Bond Between is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that focuses on the bond between humans and animals. We were founded in 2009 as Secondhand Hounds. Since then, we have rescued over 29,000 dogs and cats with the help of thousands of fosters, volunteers, and supporters in our community. Our organization has grown from a rescue to a first-in-its-class animal wellbeing organization... now The Bond Between! We continue to provide safe shelter, proper veterinary care, and daily necessities for animals while working hard to help them build a bond with humans. We also focus on supporting the bonds that already exist between people and pets with our pet food shelf, respite foster care program, and focus on social services.
We wake up every morning saying YES to connecting people and animals, caring for them, and helping them fill each other’s hearts.
You can help support us today by donating, fostering, volunteering, or sharing The Bond Between.
