My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Howdy folks, my name is Fred and I am a handsome Terrier mix with Chihuahua ears and gorgeous dark gold eyes. I’m 18 months old and weigh 20 lbs. I was a stray dog picked up by the San Antonio Animal Shelter, and because I was scared and nobody claimed me they scheduled me for execution 3 days later. Bless my lucky stars when 4 Little Paws saved my life and sent me to a foster home so I could relax, chill out, warm up, have fun, and find a wonderful forever home.

It turns out I’m a very sweet boy but my idea of fun is just living my life peacefully. I get up in the morning and eat my breakfast, sunbathe a bit, chew on a bully stick, watch the other dogs play, hang out with my foster mom, watch her work, eat my dinner, then relax on the couch with her and watch TV until bedtime. I’m a simple boy, independent, easygoing, and very low-maintenance. I have some scars on my face and some on my body and I looked like a “bait” dog initially, but they are fading away, and despite my past, I co-exist nicely with all the other dogs who live with me. I will occasionally play with another dog a bit bigger than me, but other than him, I’m not too playful, not into doggy toys, and not overly affectionate. I enjoy everyone’s company and being nearby, but I won't be slobbering all over you or trying to be a lap dog. I am well-behaved, housebroken, rarely bark, and will go for a walk or ride in the car without a fuss. It’s possible I just haven't met that person who will light up my life, but either way, I’m a GOOD BOY! I may need a few days to warm up when we meet but I’m ready to get this party started! East Coast people, inquire about me today and bring me home!

Additional adoption info

Please DO NOT apply unless the entire family / household is on board with adopting one of our dogs. We must receive an application for you to move forward in the process. Thoughtful direct emails are welcome and will be answered. However, an application is still a necessary step. We want to make sure we find our dogs a perfect fit with a family so both the dog and the family are happy. We keep our dogs with fosters once we get them out of shelters for a little bit to learn and understand their personalities. Our relationship with families doesn't stop at adoption! We are always available for any follow up questions and are happy to be a resource as you and your new pet settle into a routine.
