CARL NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!!

Best Guess for Age: 7 years as of October 2024 Gender:Male
Approximate Weight:45 lbs
Gets Along With: Carl does well with other dogs. We haven't seen him with kids or cats but we can test him if you have them!
Currently Living At: Lucky Dog's South Carolina rescue campus; needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to get up here after completing heartworm treatment!
Special Adoption Considerations: Carl is heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky! This pup is part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs. All dogs in the study are placed at random in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, the pups are eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care. After treatment concludes, we work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test after 6 months, followed by a second test at 9 months.

Carl is Looking For: His forever home. This sweetie ended up in a shelter through no fault of his own - and he's closed that chapter. He's eager to once again have his own humans for long sniffy walks and all the adventures they can dream up. Don't let that frosty face fool you - he's got plenty of zest!
