CLOVERLEAF NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!
Name: Cloverleaf Best Guess for Breed: Lab mix
Best Guess for Age: 1 year as of October 2024 Gender: Female
Approximate Weight: 58 lbs as of November 2024
Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen her with kids but she can be tested. We do not recommend her for a home with cats.
Currently Living At: DC area foster home
Special Adoption Considerations: Cloverleaf is heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky! This pup is part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs. All dogs in the study are placed at random in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, the pups are eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care. After treatment concludes, we work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test after 6 months, followed by a second test at 9 months.
We are happy to discuss this treatment and which phase of the study this Lucky Dog is in right now! Just email the adoption coordinator - the address is at lower left!
Cloverleaf is Looking For: Her forever home! She landed in the shelter through no fault of her own and is oh so eager to once again have her own humans for sniffy walks and all the adventures they can dream up. She's pretty young, just about a year old, and is eager to see and experience the world! To explore all the toys! To go to dog school to learn to be the bestest girl! And to make new pup and people pals along the way!
What she wants most of all, though, is to love and be loved, to know where she belongs, to know she's under her own roof every time the sun goes down. In exchange she promises adoring gazes and happy tail wags and snuggles and loyal companionship. What do you say? Is Cloverleaf the companion you have been seeking?
What My Foster Says About Me: Cloverleaf was such a sweetheart for her overnight with us!! She is super food motivated and loves to show off how well she can sit. As soon as she figures out someone has treats, she sits and stares intently to remind you that she is very talented and deserves to be rewarded as such. She's definitely still got puppy energy but is also happy to sit on the couch for love. She also LOVES tennis balls and requests that her forever family will make sure she gets access to many :)
Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training.
TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment. If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog
