EVIE NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!
Name: Evie Best Guess for Breed: Lab and greyhound mix
Best Guess for Age: 2 years as of June 2024 Gender: Female
Approximate Weight: 40 lbs
Gets Along With: Evie has previously lived with another dog. We haven't seen her with kids or cats but she can be tested
Currently Living At: DC area foster home
Special Adoption Considerations: Evie is heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky! This pup is part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs. All dogs in the study are placed at random in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, the pups are eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care. After treatment concludes, we work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test after 6 months, followed by a second test at 9 months.
We are happy to discuss this treatment and which phase of the study this Lucky Dog is in right now! Just email the adoption coordinator - the address is at lower left!
Evie is Looking For: Her forever home! This sweet mama did an amazing job of raising her five babies (Everest, Emmett, Ernie, Eloise, Elena) to be great family pets and they're off to their own homes. Evie is now seeking her own humans to lavish all that love and affectuion upon - and receive the same. She's also eager for long sniffy walks, romps in the park, and all the adventures her new humans can dream up. Quality kibble and a cushy dog bed would be awesome too, but what she wants most of all to be safe and loved and under her own roof.
She's got so much to offer - adoring gazes and happy tail wags and all that awesome sweet dog-ness that will always make you smile and loyal companionship. What do you say? Is she the one you have been looking for?
What My Foster Says About Me: She’s a little rascal and a very energetic and playful girl. She loves to jump on random surfaces so she has height. She has done extremely well with potty training. She loves belly rubs and is the happiest girl when you get home. She is a huge chewer so she always needs bones or toys. She loves being outside and is a stubborn girl when it’s time to go in. She’s a great dog overall.
Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training.
TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment. If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog
