My basic info
Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Our adoption process can be found on our website here: www.mnpocketpetrescue.org/process
Hi there! My name is Ribbon.
Estimated birth date: 03/27/2024
Personality: Chatty, Curious, Friendly toward humans, Friendly toward other animals, Hesitant, Inquisitive, Nervous, Smart, Sweet, Very shy (you are unable to touch this animal without it running away or being fearful, etc).
Favorite treats: cilantro, bell pepper, hay treats (various flavors).
Current Diet: Oxbow Essentials Adult Guinea Pig Food, Veggies, Leafy Greens, Western Timothy & Orchard Mix, fruit occasionally.
Favorite toys and activities: toilet paper tube stuffed with hay, wooden hanging chew toy, peeking and going in and out of her fringe curtain.
Potty trained: No.
This animal’s daily routine: Morning vitamin C tablet, pellets, hay and water refresh; poop clean out mid morning; lap/floor time late afternoon/evening; evening salad; hay and water refresh if needed, and poop clean out before bedtime; bedtime treat and top and sides of cage covered with light blanket before lights out.
BFF: Will need a buddy in an adoptive home.
Other species this pet has been exposed to and reaction: cat - curious, then indifferent; guinea pig in other room - can hear and smell her but no direct contact, sometimes will wheek back and forth with her around dinnertime or evening treat time; rabbit in other room - can hear and smell him, but no direct contact, comes to the side of the cage curiously when she hears him, otherwise indifferent.
Has this animal been exposed to children? What was their reaction? Ribbon does not have contact with children in her foster home.
Health concerns: Ribbon came to foster care with reddish feet bottoms. She requires soft, thick lining on the bottom of her cage that is kept as clean and dry as possible, and her feet monitored on a regular basis.
Behavioral concerns: Ribbon is new to her foster home, but so far we have been working on being okay with hands being in her cage, and taking treats and veggies from my fingers. Singing/humming and talking softly help her to calm, as well as playing relaxing music. She has started sniffing my hand when I put it near her in 'bunny pose' (closed fist with back of hand facing her and knuckles pointing down) and saying 'friend'. Ribbon's favorite lullabies to hear are "Tura Lura", "Lura" and "Eidelwiess".
Other notes: Ribbon is skittish, but also very curious and interested in interacting with people. She will need lots of love, time, and patience to help her come out of her shell.
Ribbon was found abandoned in a recently vacated property.
Due to our rescue being foster-based, not all foster homes are located in Saint Paul, MN. This animal's foster parent prefers to meet at the Roseville PetSmart - 2480 Fairview Ave N, Roseville, MN 55113 for meet & greets, & adoptions.
Fee: Ribbon has an adoption fee of $35
