My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Animal Profile: Pipoca is an estimated 11-month-old 10 lb female chihuahua (likely from Mimi's first litter) who was intercepted as a surrender to the packed San Bernardino shelter. She'll be arriving to foster care and we will find her a loving forever home once we get to know her in foster care.

Foster Update: Pipoca (meaning "popcorn") is the cutest little kernel of a dog. While submissive, Pip is friendly with humans and loves to be scratched under the chin and be near you. She is spunky and does the cutest little hops when she's excited. Pipoca is excelling at crate training and potty training and goes right away when she goes outside. She does have a little fear of missing out when away from her people but quiets down quickly; she does just fine when her foster humans leave the house for about 4 hours at a time. Pip lives with one giant breed dog and one medium sized dog. So far, Pipoca shows no interest in playing with the resident dogs in her foster home. She would not be a good canine companion for another playful dog, a dog park, nor doggy daycare, but would tolerate sharing a home with another respectful dog. Even better would be if Pip could have her humans to herself.

Pipoca walks nicely on leash in her quiet suburban foster home. She would benefit from continued positive exposure to the world as she can be timid when first encountering things. Pipoca recovers quickly when she's led by a confident handler that is committed to helping her overcome her nerves. Pipoca's ideal home is one that will give her structure and not coddle her. At this time, Pipoca needs a suburban or quieter setting outside of the city. She may be suitable for an apartment if in a quiet neighborhood.
