My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

PURRS ABOUND SIAMESE RESCUE OF MICHIGAN,INC.

URGENT!!!  Purrs Abound is assisting Brubeck's owner in finding a peaceful and loving environment to welcome Brubeck and his lifelong pal, Idra.  Please also take a look at Idra's bio and pictures!!  They are a pair of bonded cats who are in need of housing.  Idra and Brubeck are being displaced in October as their family must relocate out of state for cancer treatments. These two feline companions have spent their entire adult lives together and are in search of a new home where they can continue to thrive.

Idra and Brubeck enjoy receiving scratches, treats, and food - which has led them to be a bit on the chunky side. While we are uncertain of how they will interact with children under the age of 13, dogs, or other cats, we do know that Idra is a spayed female who is approximately 11 years old, and Brubeck is a neutered male who is around 10 years old. Despite the fact that neither cat has visited a veterinarian in approximately 5 years, the owner is unaware of any health issues at this time.  To be sure of that, the wonderful staff of Advanced PetCare of Oakland is going to sponsor Brubeck's and Idra's initial vet care by providing each cat with a thorough exam, including lab work and updating their vaccines.

Although they have been a bonded pair, their owner has noticed some tension between Idra and Brubeck recently. It is unclear whether this tension is due to the stress of the impending move, environmental factors, or a change in their relationship dynamics. If the tension persists once they are settled into a stable environment, we may need to explore the possibility of separating them temporarily or finding separate foster homes for each cat.

If you are able to provide a safe and nurturing environment for Idra and Brubeck during this challenging time, please reach out to us as soon as possible. Your support will make a significant difference in the lives of these two beloved felines. Please reach out to Purrs Abound Siamese Rescue via Facebook PM to fill out a foster application or, better yet, an adoption application.

Additional adoption info

Adoption Applications can submitted on line at our web site www.purrssiameserescue.org or you can print one to mail in.

Once approved to adopt we will arrange for you to meet cat or kitten in their foster home. We are a foster based rescue so all our cats and kittens are in foster homes through out Michigan and Ohio.

Adoption fees include age appropriate vaccines, sterilization, FeLV/FIV testing, routine physical examination and more indepth testing and examinations as needed to diagnose other health conditions.

Go meet their pets

Purrs Abound does not have a facility at this time. All of our Purr Guests live normal lives with foster families located throughout Michigan and into North Western Ohio. We feel that this is a better environment for these people-oriented cats and also allows us to evaluate their personalities under normal living conditions. One day, however, we do hope to obtain funds that would allow us to have a temporary facility where cats could live in a home-like environment while awaiting a foster home. If you would like to help us attain that goal, please feel free to send donations to our Post Office Box noting on the check that they are for our "Facility Fund."

More about this rescue

Purrs Abound Siamese Rescue of Michigan, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Purrs Abound was founded in March 2001 out of a love for Siamese cats and a desire to rescue Siamese cats from shelters and animal control facilities. In addition, Siamese cats do poorly in shelter environments because of their need for close human interaction. These frightened cats and kittens are placed into loving foster homes where we can give them time to begin their rehabilitation and ready themselves for their new forever homes.
