Mercy is an emaciated puppy who was surrendered to a vet's office in Texas by a homeless lady when she was 5 months old. A local rescue agreed to pay Mercy's bill from funds they raised and Mercy was hospitalized for 19 days while the vet office staff tried to find a place for her to go when funds ran out. Mercy desperately needed a medical foster and rescue. Luckily for her, NorthStar Pet Rescue stepped up and said they'd take over Mercy's medical care.
In those 19 days Mercy was treated for giardia, parasites, anemia, and kidney function issues from supposedly caused by the level of emaciation. Mercy is receiving 100ml of subQ fluids twice a day. She has shown slow improvement and she is eating and drinking very well - she has gained more than 5 pounds so far and now weighs 16.8 pounds as of 10/15! Mercy was very shut down mentally but is definitely coming around and showing her true sweet self in her wonderful foster home. Foster mom says she is good with both dogs and cats and loves children! She would fit into most homes wanting a mid energy puppy but would do best with either young kids or other dogs of her age or energy level to play with or both.
Foster mom says that Mercy is the funniest girl. She’s friendly with all 9 dogs of all energy levels and sizes in her foster home. Her play style is active and high energy but submissive if the other dog gets grumpy about it. She loves kids and just is the best girl. Nothing seems to bother her.
Mercy is finally healthy enough to be spayed and vaccinated. She will also be microchipped. When her health is more stable she will be coming to NJ to find a forever home. The adoption fee for this sweet baby is $425.
