My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

While he may look like a puppy, Butterscotch is a 10-year-old, 7lb., well-mannered gentleman. This dachshund mix was found as a stray, but clearly knows and longs for his own family. Butterscotch is housetrained, walks well on a leash, and will politely wait in front of the refrigerator for chicken treats (with his little grinch feet). He is fine when left alone, and is happy both sleeping in his dog bed or snuggling up with you. With this off-the-charts cuteness, it will be very hard not to snuggle him every chance you get!

Butterscotch is friendly with other dogs his size, along with calm, bigger dogs as well. He is great on the subway and in cars, and he’s the perfect size for carrying around (though would do best in a home without small children or rambunctious adults).

If Butterscotch sounds like a sweet addition to your life, don’t wait to get in touch! He is sure to be scooped up quickly.

More about this rescue

PupStarz Rescue is an animal welfare group committed to the rescue and rehabilitation of dogs and cats in public shelters at high risk of euthanasia, as well as those in danger of abuse. We are committed to rescuing as many animals as possible, saving over 2,600 dogs and cats since 2015.

PupStarz Rescue is a foster-based rescue, relying on fosters to open their homes and lives to our Animals. Animals in our care receive proper medical care, including alteration, vaccinations, and microchipping.

Following a thorough screening, our animals are placed in loving, responsible, committed forever homes. PupStarz Rescue ensures that adoptions are an appropriate match for both the animal and their new family by educating prospective adopters about the responsibilities and costs of bringing a furry companion into their lives.

We are committed to the welfare of our "Starz" beyond the adoption process. We maintain open communication with our adopters to ensure a smooth transition, and offer additional support such as positive training techniques.

Founded in 2015, PupStarz Rescue is a non-profit, 501(c)3, no-kill, animal rescue organization.
