Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Hi Mitchell here! My foster mom says she wants to eat me up?!?! I am not sure what that means, but I couldn't be happier than getting quality snuggling time her or anyone else that wants to cuddle.
At my foster home, I am learning all things about being a puppy in MN. I just met the two resident dogs who tell me that their mom is great at finding furever families for pups like me! Upon arrival my foster brothers provided my sibs and I with a BIG basket of toys to check out! I didn't know a pup could have so many toys! I have not met any kids yet, but this weekend is looking real promising, as we are going to be having lots of visitors! Apparently, puppies draw quite the crowds at our foster home. I can't wait to see what this is all about!
Potty training is a work in progress, I know how to find newspaper to take care of my business; however, I am going to need some time to figure this out, but don't worry, I am up for the challenge!
I am currently sleeping in either my kennel or the kitchen, which is awesome because it has all kinds of blankie's and newspaper. More than I could ever imagine. During the day, my siblings and I get to have the whole kitchen to call our own, while our foster mom works in her office. Bonus, we love lunch time cuz we get to go play OUTSIDE! My sleep schedule has currently been from 8:30pm until 6:00am, unless my foster parents wake up earlier. I am always willing to start my day whenever they are ready to get the show on the road. My foster family is in love with my markings.
I am very excited to find a family who will be willing to love me to the ends of the earth. Could it be you?
Mitchell is estimated to be 5 months old and 10 lbs. Since we don’t know the dog’s actual genetics, this is just a guess on breed and size when grown. All dogs have had a vet examination, are up to date on all vaccinations, have been given dewormer and heartworm prevention. Dogs over 7 months have been heartworm tested. If you are interested in meeting this dog please complete the adoption application on our website at https://safehandsrescue.org/adoption-process/ and then we can contact you about setting up a meeting.
We are also holding the following upcoming adoption events!
Sunday, December 8, 1:30-3:30pm, Insight Brewing, 2821 E. Hennepin Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55413 https://www.facebook.com/events/2163773867353539
Animal attendance is subject to change based on their availability. Please check our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/safehandsrescue/ for confirmed attendance the morning of the event.

We only adopt out animals to homes within 60 miles of the Twin Cities. Our adoption process begins with the return of our pre-adoption form, available on our website. After reviewing your application a meeting is scheduled between you and the pup, sometimes in the fosters home or at a neutral dog friendly place. If any resident dogs are in your home, it is recommended that the pups meet at this time. After the meeting a home visit is scheduled and if everything goes well with the visit the adoption is finalized at that time. A home visit by one of Safe Hands representatives is REQUIRED prior to finalizing any adoption and we must meet all members of the household where the pup will be living sometime during the adoption process.

More about this rescue
Safe Hands is a 501(c)(3) non profit organization dedicated to saving lives and finding forever homes for stray, abandoned and surrendered dogs in high kill shelters. Of great importance to us is to reduce the stray population and need for healthy animal euthanasia through spay/neuter programs, education, and promotion of respect for the furry creatures that share our lives.
We are a small, no-kill, volunteer run organization. All of our dogs listed are in foster homes waiting to be adopted and because of this, we get to know the dogs' personalities very well and use this information to match them to an appropriate home. We do not have a physical shelter.
This rescue is not funded by public funds nor does it receive many donations so it is dependent on adoption fees to keep operating. We have a great need for foster homes. If you are interested in providing foster care, and live within an hour of the Twin Cities, please e-mail us
Donations ALWAYS needed are: dog crates, puppy pee pads, natures miracle (for pet stain removal), Nutrisource brand puppy and dog food, Lysol disinfecting wipes, paper towels, large clean towels, dog toys, leashes, collars and gas cards to help with our transports.
