My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You need little Tito in your life! But more importantly, he needs you, and soon. Tito is an absolute angel of a dog that desperately wants to meet you. He's a 10 year old Jack Russell/border collie mix that is with us due to his owner being in an unsafe situation and needing little Tito to be safe. Tito was loved very much and this decision couldn't have been an easy one, but it's best for Tito. Tito is a perfectly behaved little guy that is mellow and easy on a leash, he sits immediately when asked and he's gentle with anything you give him. Tito has anxiety which he is on medication for. The meds are inexpensive and who knows? Maybe his anxiety will lessen in a new home. He loves being with people and would do best in a home where he's not left alone all day. Tito is fine with other dogs and loves people of all ages too. He's never lived with cats but he could probably get used to one easily if introduced slowly and safely. We require a completed adoption application which can be obtained at our facility, or from our website: www.ahscares.org. We also require proof of home ownership if you own, or a copy of a lease stating that pets are allowed with no restrictions if you rent. We require vet records for any pets owned in the last five years as well. Our adoption fees vary based on age, breed, etc. Please call our facility for exact fee 609-693-1900.

The Associated Humane Societies rescues stray and homeless animals, both domestic and wildlife, providing quality care and sanctuary until loving homes can be found. As a community-based organization, we provide low-cost veterinary care and humane education to promote responsible pet guardianship throughout New Jersey.

For over a century we have offered a haven to abused and neglected animals. Founded in 1906, AHS is the largest animal sheltering system in New Jersey, operating three shelters located in Newark, Forked River, and Tinton Falls. Our Forked River facility also includes Popcorn Park. Established in 1977, Popcorn Park is a sanctuary for abandoned, injured, ill, exploited, abused or elderly wildlife, exotic and farm animals, and birds.
