My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet handsome Cheddar! Have a thing about orange tabbies being the best? Then Cheddar is a cat you should meet. He more than lives up to the expectations of orange tabbies being super cool.

Cheddar has a laid back personality, but he does love to play. Cheddar showed up at a volunteer's home and he took a little time to have the nerve to show his awesome personality. He is on the smaller side for a male being only about 9 pounds, but his loving disposition is monumental. Cheddar loves lap time, he doesn't object to being held and cuddled and is very talkative. Expect to have fairly long conversations with Cheddar.

Cheddar is a confidant guy and seems to have little hesitation around new people. He is curious and quick to explore new places. He even did very well at his vet visit with the vet and techs giving him lots of attention. Cheddar would do very well with another laid back cat. He has adjusted very quickly to the resident cats in his foster home and is all about being friends with them.

Cheddar has tested positive for FIV. This is not Feline Leukemia, which he tested negative for. Because he has a very friendly disposition and is easy to get along with, Cheddar does not have to be an only cat. FIV is transmitted by deep bite wounds from an infected cat and is prevalent among intact male cats who are fighting for territory and mates. FIV has an unfair stigma even within the vet & cat rescue community, but the majority of FIV+ cats live long, healthy lives. We have many current resources on FIV which we'd be happy to refer you to along with many personal experiences with FIV+ cats. We are hopeful that someone will have an open mind (or is already well informed about FIV!) and come to meet Cheddar. He won't let you down!

Cheddar is about 3 years old, neutered, up to date with yearly vaccinations, Feline Leukemia negative and FIV positive.
