Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Ella is a 7 yo 15 lb female salt & pepper miniature schnauzer looking for her forever home in PA, DE, MD, VA, DC. She is very timid and gentle. She is quiet, calm, and laid back. She came into rescue from a retired breeder.
She is house-trained. She is being spayed in rescue this week, is up-to-date on vaccines, and had a dental this summer.
She enjoys going on walks. She has learned to walk on a leash with a harness. She rides well in the car. She does not play with toys. She doesn't have separation anxiety.
Ella easily goes into her crate. She enjoys her safe space in the crate. Her foster leaves the crate door open and she goes in and out, but mostly prefers to stay in. This may be because her foster has a very active home with small children. Ella is scared of children running around but has shown no signs of aggression. When Ella is at home alone without the children she goes to the foster’s husband often and sits for pets. So we feel she will flourish with time and a quieter environment.
She is a quiet girl as far as barking. Even when she encounters dogs on her walks, she does not bark, but just looks at them. She enjoys being petted by people she encounters while out on walks.
She likes to eat with no one around and was used to free feeding prior to coming into rescue. She needs an experienced groomer as she is not fond of grooming.
Ella would do best in a quiet, less active environment without young children. She doesn't mind being around other animals so we feel she would do well with another dog in the home if the dog is laid back and not wanting to play with her.
Ella's adopter will be required to take her through obedience training.
If you would like to be considered to adopt Ella, you must first apply. Please contact schnauzerrescue@outlook.com for our rescue's adoption application. Please be sure to keep a watch on your Spam and Junk folders if you don't see a response in your email inbox. Rescue Schnauzers usually weigh between 15-25 pounds, they are up to date on shots, heartworm/Lyme tested and spayed/neutered prior to placement. We make reasonable efforts to evaluate the health and temperament of each dog, however we cannot make any guarantees.
We are not a shelter and do not have a central facility to visit our rescue schnauzers. All dogs are kept in foster homes located throughout the area we cover. PLEASE NOTE: We rescue schnauzers in Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, Washington D.C., and Pennsylvania. We can only accept applications from these areas. For a rescue contact in other areas, please go to our website http://www.schnauzerrescue.net and click on Rescue Links. We have a need for volunteers in Maryland, Virginia, Washington D.C., Pennsylvania, and Delaware.
Our website features lots of great information about the rescue process, book reviews and training tips. You can donate to Ella's care at http://schnauzerrescue.net/Donate.htm via PayPal or check. All donations go to the veterinary fund and are tax deductible as a charitable contribution. Thanks for your support!
