My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Albi is a wonderful, independent boy currently in foster care in Pray, MT, where he has been for the past several months. He’s smart, thoughtful, and a happy companion who loves lounging on the couch or going for walks. While he’s happy to walk on a leash, he does have a strong instinct to chase cars—something his foster is working on with him. He can be a bit of a puller when he picks up interesting scents off the path, but with firm verbal correction and leash guidance, he quickly gets back on track. Albi does get carsick and isn’t fond of car rides.

At home, Albi prefers to stay and guard his space. He does show food resource guarding behavior, but his foster is working on this by feeding him separately and having him wait patiently before eating. Albi is sensitive and eager to please, making him responsive to training. He is good with some cats, but introductions should be slow and careful, especially with cats who are "runners."

Albi is generally good on walks and enjoys slow, careful meet-and-greets with new people. He is protective of his yard and the door to the house, so he would do best in a home without young children, or with older teens who can respect his space. He needs experienced dog owners who understand the breed and can provide clear direction and structure. Albi knows basic commands such as Sit, Stay, Down, Shake, and Come, and he truly listens when given respect and guidance. He’s a good boy, but food aggression and counter surfing are areas that need attention.

Albi enjoys companionship and seeks humans who can provide him with the direction he craves. He would thrive in a home with adults who have experience with his breed.

Bonus: If you’re looking for two dogs, Albi’s friend Savannah, also in the same foster home, is available through our Utah rescue partners. Learn more about her here:

Albi is ready for his forever home, and we’re excited to see him find the perfect family!

Additional adoption info

Great Pyrenees Rescue, Montana's mission is to help rehabilitate abused and displaced Great Pyrenees dogs, and find them the best forever home.

Adopting a friend
We work hard to find the best home for our dogs. We want this home to be their forever home. An adoption application is required with a vet reference. A home visit is also done. PERMANENT, SECURE FENCING IS REQUIRED Our adoption donation for most dogs is $275.00 for our dogs and this money is used to cover vet expense, spay/neuter charges, transport expense and caring for our dogs until they are adopted. A senior dog age 8 or older and our special needs dogs, we ask for $175.00 donation. This adoption donation is lower because you may need more health care for the seniors or special needs. We want them all to find a happy home and to be loved forever. FENCING FOR THIS BREED NEEDS TO BE AT LEAST 5 FOOT HIGH.
NOTE: The electric underground fencing is unacceptable for this breed.

More about this rescue

Please note: We are not a shelter. We are a group of volunteers. All of our dogs are fostered at someone's home OR at Old Farm Kennels. They are loved by their foster parents, some of them are socialized and their personalities and traits are well known by the foster family.
