Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Popsicle and Ghost are a bonded pair of 2-year-old kitties. Popsicle is intelligent and unafraid and Ghost is mischievous and prankish - together they are an entertaining duo that are looking for a forever home to continue their silly antics!
Just like all popsicles do, your heart will also melt with Popsicle (Poppy). Poppy doesn’t wait for anyone when it comes to what his heart desires, he jumps straight to it (type B personality). You can find him exploring by himself and doing things mindlessly -- nothing can distract him from focusing. Poppy LOVES big stretches and if you hold him right, he’ll give you the best stretch and then you can throw his body over your shoulder (he’ll go limp against you because he loves it).
Don’t let Ghost's name fool you! Although he is the best at hide and seek, Ghost is an inquisitive kitty who loves to catch you off guard. He is an observant little baby who likes to take in his surroundings -- when compared to his brother, he’s giving very much type A, ensuring he has all his bases covered before he starts exploring, comfortably. Ghost is anything but, once he starts getting comfortable, you will have a little shadow beside you all day. Fear not, Ghost will not take a day off from such an important job. Although quiet, you can never predict what he will do next!
Poppy loves to explore any small space he can get into. He loves to sunbathe, watch the squirrels and chase toys. Ghost also loves sunbathing, watching squirrels, and hand shadow puppets.
As for a daily routine, both boys both currently eat three times a day but twice a day would be fine! They don’t have a strict exercise regimen, but play time for encouragement and anywhere near a window with good views of the outside and ample sunlight would be marvelous for the both of them.
The boys are currently fostered in a home with 3 humans and 2 cats. As long as the boys are given enough time for exercise and enrichment, they would do well in any size home or apartment. They do well with other cats and would possibly do well with older kids who aren’t too loud or jumpy.
Together, these brothers love to cuddle whenever they get the chance. Don’t be surprised if they are both vocal when it is time to eat -- they are both food motivated (no matter the circumstances, they will never miss out on a midnight snack). They would love nothing more than lots of laps to lounge in, hands to pet them and hearts to love them! If Ghost and Poppy sound like a dynamic duo that you’d like to add to your bunch, apply below! They’d love to meet you. ---- There is no guarantee of age and breed as a rescue animal's history is unknown. All ages and breeds are best estimate.
Adoption fees include a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%.
All cats have received comprehensive veterinary care and tested negative for feline leukemia and FIV unless otherwise stated. Cats are up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations and have been spayed/neutered, treated for fleas and/or ear mites, de-wormed, and microchipped. Please note there may be additional follow up visits and boosters that are not covered by Pet Haven after adoption.

Pet Haven is a foster-based rescue. Our animals live with foster families until they are placed in permanent homes and their foster families get to know the dogs and cats learning important information about the animals. For example, the foster family will know if the dog or cat is good with other animals or children, and will have a good idea of what kind of training, attention, and special needs the pet may require. This makes our foster families great resources for potential adopters!

Our Mission
Pet Haven improves the lives of pets and the people who love them by rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming dogs and cats; reducing pet overpopulation by supporting spay and neuter efforts, and providing resources to people that help strengthen the human-animal bond.
Our Vision
A Minnesota where all pets live in safe, loving homes.
Our Values
Excellence in service and care; community; integrity; innovation; perseverance; compassion; a rewarding place to volunteer
How We Help
Spay/Neuter Initiative Program: Providing support to end pet overpopulation in Minnesota
Owner Surrender: Providing a safe haven for pet owners
Foster: Committed to finding forever homes for cats and dogs
Phoenix Fund for Special Needs: Providing veterinary care for animals in need of healing
What We Do
We help dogs and cats find homes with loving families through foster-based care. Every dog and cat lives with a foster family until they find their forever families. We provide all of their basic needs including proper food, veterinary care, behavior training, and supplies.
Through in-home fostering, we learn about each animal’s temperament, personality, likes/dislikes, and any medical needs. With this first-hand information, we can then find the right family for each dog and cat.
Our volunteers also educate the public on responsible companion animal care and represent respect for animals at all times. Whether we’re working with prospective new families, meeting people at public events, or socializing with friends and family, we encourage others to view and treat their pets as members of the family. We are their guardians, and they depend on us for companionship and care.
We spay/neuter prior to adoption.
We microchip all our Pet Haven Pets and remain as a secondary contact.
We make sure all pets are up to date on required vaccinations
We test for Heartworm and Lymes in all our dogs and are transparent in the results and treament
We test for FeLV/FIV and are transparent in the results. We believe that cats who test positive still deserve a chance at a quality home.
We do not euthanize animals unless they have untreatable health or behavioral conditions that deny them an acceptable quality of life or makes them a serious threat to people, other animals, or themselves.
How We Operate
We rely on adoption fees, tax-deductible donations, grants, and special events to keep our rescue operating. Our staff, Board of Directors, and volunteers have provided the passion and commitment to keep Pet Haven a safe haven for animals for almost 70 years.
We are committed to preventing pet homelessness through the SNIP Grant. Since 2005, we have granted more than $240,000 to organizations in Minnesota to support spay/neuter initiatives.
