Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hello future family,
My name is Turbo and I am a 68lb, 1-year-old male Border Collie. If you are someone who loves freckles, then I am happy to report that I have freckles for days. I have to admit, they do look rather nice with my beautiful black and white coat. They really help enhance just how gorgeous my color combination is. As handsome as I am, you would think that this would have earned me a forever home. Alas, it did not. I used to have a family, but for whatever reason they didn't want me anymore and I ended up getting abandoned. That was a pretty low point in my life. Sure, I was alone and left to fend for myself but the worst part of that experience was knowing that I had no one. That my family had abandoned me and left me all alone. I was so broken up about it, that when I found a bridge to hide under, I stayed there and curled up in a ball. I ended up being discovered and at first, I was excited, maybe this would be my new person but I ended up in the animal shelter. Which I guess is better since I was getting fed and had proper shelter, but at the same time, I still felt an emptiness inside of me. I actually ended up spending a few weeks at the shelter, wondering if anyone was ever going to pick me. And just when I thought no one would, a foster family stepped up with PPFT and I was welcomed into their fluffy butt family.
Let’s be real here—I'm a sensitive soul, and that’s the first thing my new family should know. I feel all the feels, and if I mess up, I might get a little distant for a bit (think of it as my version of “taking a personal day”). But don’t worry—I’ll bounce back in no time. I’m what you’d call an empath, so I can pick up on your emotions faster than you can say “treat,” and yes, I do have a tendency to pout like a toddler if things get tense. That said, I’m still a happy boy at heart! If the vibes are right, you can count on me to be your cuddle companion, soaking up all the pets and love all day long.
I get along great with other dogs and kids—especially kids. I mean, what’s not to love? They’re sweet, fun, and pretty much my idea of best friends forever. When it comes to other dogs, I’m always up for some playful romping, but once that energy's spent, I’m more than happy to find a comfy spot and catch a nap. I’m not the kind of dog who needs a playmate 24/7—let’s be real, I just don’t have the stamina for that. But I do enjoy some playful moments here and there. As for those mysterious "meow" creatures? I haven’t met one yet. From what I hear, they’ve got a bit of an attitude, but honestly, I’ve never met anyone I didn’t like! So if they’re cool, I’m pretty sure we’ll get along just fine.
I’ve got a feeling I’d love to tag along on family outings! I can’t say I’ve had the chance to experience much of that yet, but I adore my people and spending time with them, so really, what's not to love? I've been told my leash manners are top-notch, even though I haven’t been on a full-fledged walk yet. I’ve aced my vet visits on the leash, so I’m confident I’d rock a stroll around the neighborhood too. Car rides? Piece of cake! I’ll happily plop down in the backseat, chilling and ready for whatever adventure we’re heading into. Now, if my future family prefers a more laid-back lifestyle, I’m all for that too. I’m a pretty relaxed guy with some playful bursts here and there—think yard zoomies every now and then—but inside, I like to keep things calm. I will say, I’m still trying to figure out this whole fetch thing. You throw the toy, and then I’m supposed to... what, go get it? Seems a bit counterproductive if you ask me....
As far as I know, I’ve never lived in an apartment, so that would be a new adventure for me! But honestly, I’m a pretty low-maintenance guy. My top priorities in life? Treats, pets, and cuddles—if I can get those in an apartment setting, I think we’d be golden! Oh, and you’ll be happy to hear I’m fully potty trained, so no worries about any surprise "gifts" from me. I can't believe some dogs do that! Now, about kennels... there’s something about them that makes me really nervous. I’m not sure why, but whenever you try to kennel me, I get scared and hunker down, so I’d really love a family that doesn’t mind letting me skip the kennel. It just brings back some not-so-happy memories, I guess. Oh, and I’ve got a quirky little habit you should know about. I’ll pick up items lying around and move them to a new spot, just for fun! I don’t chew anything up—I’m just doing my part in redecorating. So, if you can’t find something you swear you just had, it might just be my “helpful” paws doing some rearranging. 😉
I could have never imagined that I would one day find myself abandoned and living the life of a stray. Or that I would end up in the shelter for weeks. That was never supposed to happen. I was able to get my second chance thanks to PPFT, but I really hope that whoever adopts me is prepared forever. None of that "until" stuff, because that just isn't cool. It's not easy for us to keep getting passed around. I will never understand why my first family abandoned me but I can only hope that my new family will be better. That they will be as loyal to me as I will to them, and that I can bring smiles and so much love to them every single day!
Until we meet,
Turbo
