My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Introducing Princess!

Princess is six years old and weighs six pounds. Princess came into rescue in April when her owner went into Hospice and the family could not take her. Princess is regal, beautiful, and commanding, as her name suggests. She just needs some royal servants- er, family- to call her own.

Princess is sweet, loving, and playful. She loves her squeaky toys! She is a true velcro dog in every sense, who wants to be in your lap or sleeping next to you in bed. She sleeps through the night without any trouble. She is a barker and will bark at sudden noises or when her foster family’s large elderly lab enters the room.

Princess would do best in a home where she is the only dog, or possibly with just one other dog about her size and who is also playful. She does well with her foster’s mom’s 9 year old dog who is a similar size- she lies next to him and snuggles with him on the sofa; however, she will still growl at him if he tries to come between her and her foster mom. Princess is also aggressive to her foster mom’s other larger dogs if they come near her food or try to come up on the sofa when she is sitting next to her foster mother, despite foster mom’s efforts to deter this behavior.

Princess has a great appetite and will even steal the other dogs’ food when she gets the chance. It is thought that Princess may have had to protect her food at her former residence.

Princess is housebroken but will use a puppy pad if necessary. She does well with leash walks.

Princess has been fully vetted and spayed. She is up to date on vaccinations. She is microchipped. Princess is heartworm negative and takes monthly heartworm prevention.

Princess’ adoption donation is $300.

If you are interested in the above dog, please do not email us and tell us that you are interested, but submit an adoption application. The link for the application is below.

To submit an application go here……chihuahua-rescue.com/adoption-application/

An application must be submitted and approved before a meet-n-greet can be scheduled.

Your current dogs/cats must be spayed or neutered unless a veterinarian has determined that your current pet(s) should not be fixed due to medical reasons. They must also be up-to-date on shots and on HW preventative.

Reference checks and a home visit are required so our southeast dogs can only be adopted in NC/SC, VA, TN, AL, MD and GA.

Additional adoption info

If you are interested in one of our dogs, please submit an application.

We require an adoption application, reference checks and home visit before adoption.

We also require that all current pets be UTD on shots, on HW preventative and spayed/neutered. Adoption fee is $250.00 for Chi's over 1 year of age and $300 for Chi's under 1 year of age. Other adoption listings are priced as is.

We do not set up a meet-n-greet with a dog without an approved application and a completed home visit. The process starts with an application on line and when the application and references have been checked, a home visit is required. After the HV report has been reviewed by our board, a meet-n-greet will be set up.
