Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Millie, our 12 year old 7 pound chihuahua, is a ride-or-die dog. Where some dogs (looking at you, dog sitting next to us while we type) will happily wander off with anyone, Millie picks a person and sticks to them like glue. Which makes it all the more sad she was left at the shelter when her owner could no longer care for her. But Millie is resilient and she's looking forward to meeting her new favorite person.
Millie had rough skin and a mammary tumor when we took her in from the shelter. We suspect she likely had a flea allergy. We fixed up her skin, removed the tumor (benign!), and Millie recovered beautifully. Millie came to us already missing most of her teeth and she eats just fine. She's still occasionally itchy so her adopter may have to help her navigate some other allergies, but she is managed well with cytopoint (an injection given every 6-8 weeks). We don't know if Millie will need this long term.
Watermelon, dancing, rolling in the grass and warm laps are some of Millie's favorite things. Although she's a senior, she still gets the zoomies and likes to hump her squeaky carrot toy. Like most chihuahuas, Millie will tell her person about noises outside and she'll bark at dogs she sees on leash. Once she's warmed up to them, though, Millie is good with other dogs. She is also good with cats and kids. Millie is very friendly but on the shy side. She's potty trained, not destructive, and loves getting baths. Millie has princess tendencies: she wants to drink ice water out of a glass and will insist on sleeping under the covers with her person. Whoever adopts Millie will never have to use the bathroom alone again.
Millie is heartworm negative and current on her flea and heartworm preventions. She's had full normal senior blood work.
We're so excited to see where Millie gets to spend her retirement. Is it with you? Apply to adopt at www.stumptownstrays.org
