My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Anni and Agentha (aka Aggie) are sisters and they're looking for a home together.

These girls came to us after being found as shy, stray kittens. Unfortunately, Anni has some medical needs that needed to be addressed, so these cuties have had to be with us for a full year. The benefit of being in foster care all that time, is that they're no longer shy and are now sweet and cuddly. They are silly, playful, curious and independent girls once they are settled in.

These two are great with older kids, other cats and cat-savvy dogs. They have been in foster homes with both cats and dogs and they spent time playing and cuddling with them regularly. They would be very happy to go to a home with other pets, but they could also be in a home with just the two of them together.

When the girls were fairly young, the vet noticed that they had significant inflammation in their mouths. After some investigation, they were both diagnosed with Hyperplastic Feline Juvenile Gingivitis. Aggie (the dark torti) had a mild case and it was able to be fixed with a dental procedure. However,
Anni (the brown tabby) had a severe case, that turned into Stomatitis.

Stomatitis is essentially where the immune system has an exaggerated response to the dental plaque that builds up on the teeth, causing severe inflammation in the mouth and gums. This condition is very painful and the veterinary dental specialist said that poor Anni had the worse case of Stomatitis that she'd ever seen. Unfortunately, the only way to cure Anni's condition and remove her pain was for the specialist to do full-mouth dental extractions, leaving Anni with no teeth. While this seems like a scary concept, Anni is doing very well now and her Stomatitis is cured. She is out of pain and she's so much happier! She eats well, plays well and is an entirely different cat now that she's comfortable.

Since Anni does not have any teeth left, she should not require any further dental care throughout her life. Aggie will still need the same regular dental care that any healthy cat should receive.

If you'd like to learn more about Anni & Aggie, please reach out to us at victoriapets@gmail.com. They have been waiting for a home for over a year, and now that they're finally ready, we'd love to find the perfect family for them.

Additional adoption info

Adopting a pet is a lifetime commitment and a big responsibility. Dogs can live 15 years or more, and cats can live 20+ years. Like people, each individual pet comes with its own set of baggage, needs, and personality traits. Because your new pet will depend on you to provide its basic needs, we need to be sure that you are educated and up to the challenge. Our adoption process allows us to ask you some questions about your home environment, your lifestyle, and your needs, expectations, and limitations. We want to be sure that your new pet is going to be just as happy in its new home as you are to have it there.
A Successful Adoption Process Includes the Following Steps:
To start the adoption process, please contact us at victoriapets@gmail.com and request an adoption application. Once it is completed, email it back to the same address and in the body of your email, please tell us about your home/family. If there is a particular pet that you're interested in, please indicate which. Our adoption team will contact those whose applications have the potential to be the best match with the pet(s) of interest to set up a visit supervised by the foster parent who can answer some of the questions you may have about the pet. You will not be able to take the pet home the day of the visit.
One of our volunteers will contact you within 72 hours of the visit and we will open a dialogue with you based on the information provided in your application. We will talk about your home and family, as well as your experience with pets. We will ask you to tell us about the kind of life and care you can offer to the adopted pet, and we will inform you about any health or behavioural issues that you should be aware of.
(For dogs only) Once an adoption is pending, we will come visit your home to ensure that the environment is suitable for the pet in question, based on its needs. We can advise you of modifications that could make the adoption more successful, such as fencing and other things you may not have thought about.
The adoption process generally takes several days, and this time line is intentional. It allows you time to think about your decision so that you can be sure that you are comfortable with the decision that you’ve made. Adoptions are never approved within 48 hours of the application being submitted.
Once we have successfully journeyed through the steps above, you can pick up your new friend to begin a wonderful life together!
Signing an adoption contract is a requirement for every pet that is adopted.
Please Read Before Applying to Adopt:
You must be 19 years of age or older to apply for one of our pets.
Please note that we do not adopt animals sight unseen and we do not ship animals. We do consider adoptions out of area but applicants are required to come & visit with the animals of interest before an adoption is completed.
