Texas and her four siblings were born in rural Texas and raised mostly outside on the streets, with only each other and their mom for company. Mom was a gorgeous husky who sadly became very sick, which was discovered after a good samaritan trapped mom and her pups to get them out of the elements. The vet discovered that mom had cancer, and a local rescuer reached out to us about helping her pups.
We knew when we committed to taking them in that they had been through a lot and were pretty under-socialized with people. We are so proud of how far they have all come in less than two weeks!
Each pup wound up in a loving foster home! Texas lives with a family and their cats. She is one of the shyest of her litter but her foster mom wants to emphasize that she has made such great strides already and will only continue to improve! She is a smart and super gentle dog, who just needs someone understanding that she is not the type of dog who is going to run up to a stranger and shower them with kisses immediately.
Her foster mom writes, "Texas is a sweet southern girl who is ready to blossom. She is very cautious right now, but has a very playful side that's waiting to bust out once she gets more secure in her environment and with people. She likes her little stuffed animals and pouncing on toys being pulled by a string or rope. She's a quick learner, will need patience, but will easily master house and leash training. She wants to connect, is very lovable, and if you like Swiss cheese, she will love you, too."
Texas's adoption fee is $400. This animal is spayed and up to date on core vaccines appropriate for their age. They will need a Heartworm test between 6-7 months of age.
