Okalani was at Chicago Animal Care and Control for over a month when we finally decided to bring her in to our rescue. Okalani is just the sweetest girl. Besides being a super cutie, she is so polite and engaging. We call her Lani for short, and she knows it.
Lani is a beautiful soul with so much love to give! She loves snuggles and playtime and being with her people, and sleeping in the sun. She wants to play with ALL the dogs all the time! She does excited bunny hops when playing or meeting dogs because she's having so much fun. She takes treats gently and is very food motivated. She is a smart girl with a big heart, and she is so soft and snuggly. She can run fast and play hard - all day long.
She does a great job of sleeping through the night and is perfectly housebroken. She understands boundaries of rooms and where is allowed. Okalani loves other dogs and would thrive with a dog friend to play with and keep her company.
She currently lives in a foster home with teenagers and an adult dog. "Okalani is energetic and loves to play, but she is quite content to 'read the room' and quiet down when it's time. She'll lay next to us and chew a bone or take a snooze. She still has puppy-nibble tendencies and can get that puppy-rambunctiousness every once in awhile, but responds well to correction and we're already seeing less of that behavior as she settles into our routine.
She's silly, smart and eager to please. She responds to her name, and knows sit. She was terrific in the bathtub and she walks well on a leash. She didn't react to other dogs we saw on the walk. And she is not a barker! She doesn't climb on furniture or chew anything, including when we left the dogs alone. She lets us wipe her paws when the dogs come inside from playing in the yard. She's also got the best early morning yawns and stretches! As I'm writing this, I'm not sure why we aren't keeping her!!! We'd love to see her in an active family with another dog that loves to play. But she's also adapted well to our quiet, calm house. She just wants to be loved (and fed)."
We hope you will consider adopting this gem!
Okalani's adoption fee has been sponsored. This animal is spayed, up to date on core vaccines, and Heartworm negative.
