My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Okalani is living in boarding. Please submit an application from our website and/or email dogs@heartlandanimalshelter.org to learn if you are a match!

Okalani had been at Chicago Animal Care and Control for over a month when we finally decided to bring her in to our rescue. We had met her a few times when we were down there and fell in love, we just didn't have foster homes available (since we are entirely foster based while our shelter is being rebuilt). We do have a few kennels at a boarding facility that have been loaned us, so we decided to just go and get Okalani and place her there while we looked for a foster or adopter. We didn't want her to have to stay at CACC any longer!
Okalani is just the sweetest girl. Besides being a super cutie, she is so polite and engaging. Okalani takes treats with a gentle mouth even though she is clearly hungry and needs to put on some weight. She might get excited sometimes but then she makes sure to be extra sweet the rest of the time. Her kisses are great, but her lean in for calm cuddles are even better.

We like to give Okalani breaks from her kennel in boarding so she has spent the past couple days at the hangar we work out of now, hanging out with dogs big and small! Okalani absolutely loves dogs.

We hope you will consider fostering or adopting this gem!

Okalani's adoption fee is $250. This animal is spayed, up to date on core vaccines, and Heartworm negative.
