My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Button

Button is a Female Chihuahua mix
DOB: May 25, 2024
Adoption fee: $225.00

I hope I will grow into my ears, but they really do add to my cuteness. I am not as demanding as my siblings, but I am also not as forward about getting attention either. I will need a little more work in the trust category with new people.

I will require a physical fence or a secure area to be outside. I am not leash trained and will need help adjusting to leash walking. I would do my best with a person, couple or family with small dog experience. Children should be older or have been raised around small breeds.

Pending a meet and greet, I may do well with another dog. I should be fine with a dog friendly cat.

If you are interested in being my adopter, please visit my shelter's website and complete the adoption application that is available there! HSSCM.org you can find the applications under the "adoptions" tab.

More about this shelter

About Us:
We are the area's nonprofit advocate, sanctuary and source for companion animals since 1887.

Our Mission:
-to protect animals from suffering and cruelty
-to provide safe and responsible care for unwanted or abused companion animals
-to enhance the lives of animals and people through education, adoption, and foster care.

We believe in second chances at the Humane Society of South Central Michigan. Our service area includes all of Calhoun County and parts of Kalamazoo, Barry and Branch counties. We keep animals as long as it takes to find a good home for adoption once the animal passes temperament testing and is checked for good health. The Watkins Road shelter cares for up to 100 animals a day, and adopts out more than 500 animals a year. Countless area residents use the Society’s animal care, adoption and education programs each year. The Humane Society is overseen by a board of directors. We do not receive any government or tax dollars, or national humane organization funding. Our services are made possible by people in our community who care about homeless cats and dogs - people like you!

The Humane Society of South Central Michigan values:
-The ethical and humane treatment of animals
-Its role as a shelter for animals that suffer from pain, fear, and neglect
-Community accountability for the welfare of its animals
-Responsible stewardship of our resources
-Community involvement to achieve our goals
-Education about responsible pet ownership
-The joy of sharing a life with animal companions
